on

The Samsung Galaxy S5 release date is confirmed for April 11th in 150 countries and it will be heading to all major carriers in the United States.

Today at its Unpacked 5 Episode 1 launch event, Samsung announced the Galaxy S5, its brand new flagship that will come to replace the Galaxy S4 on shelves around the world. The device, as expected, comes with a number of powerful features including a brand new design, a 5.1-inch display, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the latest version of Android.

The company also announced the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5 release date, a date that had been rumored for both March and April. Gotta Be Mobile had heard that the device would be released in April but was unable to confirm the exact date with another source. As it turns out, April was accurate.

Samsung today confirmed the Galaxy S5 release date for April though it did not reveal any specific release dates for American carriers. The company says that the device will start shipping in April and that 150 countries will see the device land on April 11th. It’s not clear if American carriers will release that day or not.

The company does say that it will be available for all major carriers in the United States and that likely means an arrival on the usual suspects including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless. All five hosted the Galaxy S4 and below and should confirm the Galaxy S5 later in the day as we inch towards launch.

U.S. Cellular, the nation’s fifth largest carrier, confirmed to Gotta Be Mobile that it will be releasing the Galaxy S5 in April.

Samsung’s website shows the carriers as options and it looks like the Galaxy S5 will be made available at a number of different retailers in the U.S. including Best Buy and Costco.

U.S. carriers tend to confirm release dates much closer to the actual release dates themselves which means that consumers could be out of luck for a few weeks. Carrier did confirm release dates early for the Galaxy Note 3 but it’s not clear if they will do the same for the company’s brand new Galaxy S5.

Samsung also did not confirm pricing for the Galaxy S5 though the device is rumored to have a price tag that is less than the Galaxy S4 price at launch. Samsung’s Galaxy S4 started at $199.99 on-contract.

IS IT JUST ME, or does anyone else agree?…

APRIL IS A MONTH! (Not a date!).

While I realize it is difficult to know exact dates (especially with multiple carriers in the US, for example)… APRIL IS STILL A MONTH!

Dates are days… months are months. Can’t you even get this basic fact right???
