Verizon LG G Pad 8.3 Set to Take on the Nexus 7 LTE

Today Verizon Wireless and LG are happy to announce the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet will officially be headed to Verizon Wireless with 4G LTE to take on the Nexus 7, iPad Mini, and other LTE-enabled tablets.

After launching a few months ago for $349, the impressive 8.3-inch 1080p tablet had plenty going for it, but hasn’t seen the type of success Google’s Nexus 7 gets. Today though it received new light as Verizon Wireless will not only be offering the tablet with 4G LTE for $99 (on contract) but the regular off-contract price with 4G LTE is actually lower than the initial WiFi model.

Available starting March 6th users will be able to get the LG G Pad 8.3 4G LTE tablet for $299 off-contract, or for just $99 with a new 2-year agreement from Verizon Wireless. We’re expecting the regular WiFi model to receive a drop in price around the same day, considering it currently costs $50 more than this LTE model, being $349 from multiple retailers.

We’ve been hearing reports from as far back as January that LG and Verizon had plans to deliver this tablet to customers, and it will finally be available in just a few days.

The LG G Pad 8.3 with LTE offers an all around excellent package, and aside from still being on an aging Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and not Android 4.4 KitKat, it has top-tier specs and is extremely well-rounded. Running with an 8.3-inch 1920 x 1080p full HD display users will enjoy a 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage can be increased with a micro-SD slot. You’ll enjoy a 5 megapixel rear and 1.3 front camera setup, dual stereo speakers on the rear, and even an Infrared port for remote control abilities.

Overall the tablet is extremely quick and stable and has some impressive specs all in a sleek overall package. The bezels are thin so the 8.3-inch size still remains quite portable, and this device is actually my go-to tablet over the Nexus 7.

As usual Verizon customers can add the tablet to their More Everything plan for an additional $10 per month, which gets them a SIM to toss into the new LG G Pad 8.3 for full 4G LTE connectivity while on the go. Again we’re still on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with the G Pad, but users can expect Android 4.4 KitKat in the next few months once LG finishes the rollout for a few of its popular smartphones.
