Nexus 7 Price Gets Competitive with $49 Deal from Verizon

There’s no shortage of tablets using Verizon Wireless 4G LTE, but one just got much cheaper for potential buyers. Google’s flagship tablet from last year, the Nexus 7 which made it to Verizon Wireless eventually, is now seeing a steep price discount.

The Nexus 7 was already one of the best and cheapest tablets around, but today we’re hearing Verizon Wireless wants to nearly give it away, as long as customers sign up for a new 2-year contract. Rather than pay $349 for the Nexus 7 with LTE from the Google Play Store, users can now get it for just $49 from Verizon.

The Nexus 7 was announced last year in June with support for all major US carriers LTE, but sadly it took Verizon months and months to actually certify and allow the Nexus 7 to be supported. This caused many buyers to take a different route. However, now that it’s available, it’s available for really cheap.

At this point the second generation Nexus 7 (2013) is already more than a half a year old, and potential buyers are possibly looking at the next version. We’ve been hearing a lot of reports of Google switching things up this year, and releasing an LG-made Nexus 8, so buyers may want to wait this out.

That being said, the Nexus 7 is still one of the best tablets available today. Offering a 7-inch 1080p HD display, quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and running the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Google’s slate features wireless charging, comes with 32GB of internal storage, sports a 5 megapixel camera on the back, and now comes with Verizon LTE all for $49 and a new 2-year contract.

A new Nexus 8 could be announced in June or July this year, but for those who’d like a tablet right now, snagging one from Verizon could be a good option.
