Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the best cheap smartphones to buy in March, and we expect the deals will continue into April as the Galaxy S5 release arrives and pushes the starting price down further.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 4-inch display, speedy processor and a 13MP camera as well as a Micro SD card slot to add storage and a removable battery. There are a variety of cases and accessories available to users and we expect new options to arrive for the rest of this year. The Galaxy S4 runs the latest version of Android on most carriers and those that don't have it, like Verizon, should see it soon.

To get the Galaxy S4 cheap you will need to sign a contract, and like the rest of these phones Verizon and AT&T are the best places to look.

Verizon customers can buy the Galaxy S4 with 16GB of storage for $49 on a two year contract at Amazon. For users switching to Verizon there is a special to buy one get one free on the Galaxy S4. We normally don't see buy one get one deals on smartphones, anymore, so this is a good deal if you need several devices.

On AT&T there is a $49 Galaxy S4 option available through Amazon and if you are ok with a refurbished smartphone, AT&T sells a Galaxy S4 free on a two-year contract. AT&T also sells the Galaxy Note 3 refurbished for $99 which is a good option to consider if you want a bigger display.

The refurbished phones and most of these Galaxy S4 deals are only available online.

Bro, 2 out of the 5 phones are flagship phones, that are even more expensive than a Nexus 5 (which is considered budget). How much research did you even do, to include flagship phones in a article about cheap smartphones? Oh, everything’s “cheap” when it’s subsidized, woohoo.

    Josh,
I am a low income senior eligible for a California PUC “free” phone. PUC now allows users to use their minutes on a “smartphone.” I will need data only rarely but would like to know what would be the best least-expensive smartphones available to us “welfare phone” users?
    Many thanks.
