New HTC One Livestream Shows Galaxy S5 Competitor

In just a few hours the new HTC One livestream will officially show the HTC M8, which is going to be one of the Samsung Galaxy S5’s biggest competitors this spring.

The New HTC One livestream starts at 11 AM Eastern, 8 AM Pacific and is available to watch online. HTC shows a countdown to the event on the HTC launch page which will switch over to a live stream of the New HTC One shortly before the events kick off. HTC is hosting dual events in London and New York City to showcase the new smartphone.

The HTC M8 code name appeared last year and since then leaks and HTC messages all but confirmed the name for this phone as the New HTC One.

During the Samsung Galaxy S5 event earlier this year nearly 400,000 viewers tuned in to a YouTube stream to see the new device and we could see hundreds of thousands tune in today to see the New HTC One livestream.

Despite all the leaks we still don’t know the New HTC One price and all of the new HTC One release details. Here is what we know so far.

Over the past several weeks multiple leaked videos and even a full on New HTC One review that arrived this week to show what HTC plans to announce. Incredibly, this is the second All new HTC One review to arrive ahead of the actual announcement. The first took place earlier this month in the hands of a teenager who reportedly borrowed the phone from a parent.

The HTC One livestream will share everything we want to know in an official capacity, skipping over the standard waiting period of questions between announcement and release that typically accompanies Android phones. It turns out the reason we’ve seen so much of the new HTC One is because the New HTC One release date is scheduled for today on Verizon, according to a leak.

That means, despite an announcement taking place a month after Samsung’s big show, the New HTC One will arrive before the Galaxy S5 release date for Verizon and possibly other U.S. carriers. If this comes true it is an impressive speed that bests even Apple’s announcement to release schedule. Look for a new HTC One release date on other U.S. carriers in the next two weeks. That will put the device on shelves by the April 11th Galaxy S5 release date, allowing HTC to go head-to-head with the device.

The New HTC One reportedly features a 5-inch 1080P display and dual cameras that can deliver the equivalent of a 16MP sensor. Users get 32GB of on board storage, a Micro SD card slot and a 2,600mAh battery according to leaks.

The LG G3 will be the follow up to the successful LG G2, a flagship that competed with the likes of the iPhone 5s and Samsung Galaxy S4. The rumor mill suggests a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD display inside a device with smaller bezels than we’ve ever seen before. The LG G3 should come with a quad-core processor at 2.5 GHz, 2-3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage.
