7 Essential iOS 7 Cydia Tweaks You Need to Install Today

Published

on

Even though the unjailbreakable iOS 7.1 is out and about, avid jailbreakers are still on iOS 7.0.6 and older, and that means they can still take advantage of some great iOS 7 Cydia tweaks. We have seven more tweaks that we think you’ll enjoy.

The official iOS 7 jailbreak has been available for quite some time now, and we’ve been taking some time to play around with some jailbreak tweaks (old and new) for iOS 7 and seeing which ones are worth your time.

We already discussed six iOS 7 Cydia tweaks that dramatically improve the iOS 7 experience, but we’re back with some more, since jailbreak developers are constantly updating and releasing new tweaks that are compatible with iOS 7 and take advantage of all the new features in the new mobile operating system as well.

iOS 7 Cydia tweaks

Again, as with our previous lists of jailbreak tweaks, I want to point out that there are a ton of great Cydia apps and tweaks out there, but a lot of them are fixes for problems that don’t even exist (like a tweak that hides the app name under the icon, or hides the carrier name at the top — unnecessary, but to each his/her own). The tweaks that we mention, however, are ones that are huge boons to your iOS 7 experience, and they fix real issues that have annoyed iOS 7 users since day one, so here we go!

UnlockID

We discussed this jailbreak tweak in our article about the best jailbreak tweaks for the iPhone 5s’s Touch ID, but we thought it’s worth a second look in this browser series of jailbreak apps.

UnlockID ($2.99) allows users to unlock their Mac computer with their iPhone 5s, and it can also store website passwords for your Mac. The app will automatically fill them in using your fingerprint whenever you visit a password-protected website in your browser of choice on your Mac.

This app is perfect for those who don’t want to have their Mac save website passwords, as anyone who hops on your computer can access all of these password-protected websites without a problem. So, if you’re a bit paranoid about others getting on your computer and logging into your Facebook account, UnlockID can be the perfect companion to prevent such a thing from ever happening.

Compose

If you’ve ever wanted a quicker way to write up a Tweet or a Facebook status update, Compose ($0.99) adds quick-access links to iOS 7’s Control Center, allowing you to do a whole list of things to choose from, with Twitter and Facebook being one of them, as seen below.

Unfortunately, you only have two slots that you can put shortcuts to, but I found that I only needed two slots for what I wanted to use it for anyway.

Badger 7

Badger ($1.49) has been around since iOS 6, but it was just recently updated for iOS 7 in the form of an all-new app called Badger 7. The tweak gives users the ability to look at all of your notifications for a given app all at once, by either swiping up on the app icon or double tapping on it.

What I love most about Badger 7 is how well it fits into iOS 7. It looks and acts just like a normal iOS 7 feature that Apple could have included. It doesn’t get in the way of the user experience and while swiping up on the app icon might accidentally execute Badger 7, I haven’t had any problem with such a thing.

ProWidgets

One of the newer iOS 7 jailbreak tweaks to hit Cydia is ProWidgets ($2.99). This app doesn’t technically do what the name suggest. Widgets are usually seen as blocks of information that you can place on the home screen in order to save you an extra tap into an app. Instead, ProWidgets simply allows you to pop up certain apps on top of other apps.

For example, say I’m browsing Twitter and I need to quickly send an iMessage to someone. Instead of exiting out of Twitter and opening up the Messages up to send a message, I can quickly activate ProWidgets to bring up a iMessage pop-up on top of Twitter. Then, once I send the message, I can quickly go back to browsing my Twitter feed.

Speed Intensifier

If the animation speeds in iOS 7 are too slow to keep up with your fast-paced productivity, then you might want to check out Speed Intensifier (free). Opening and closing folders and navigating through menus uses nifty animations to make iOS 7 look prettier, but sometimes you just want to go from A to B as quickly as possible.

Speed Intensifier allows you to do this, and you simply just set the speed of animations based on how fast you want them relative to the normal speed, like x2, x3, x4, etc.

IntelliScreen X 7

IntelliScreen X ($9.99) is one of the most popular jailbreak tweaks around, and it was recently completely updated for iOS 7. IntelliScreen X 7 allows you to put a heap of information on your iOS 7 lock screen or in the notification center. Things like email, messages, voicemails can show up on your lock screen, and even Twitter and Facebook updates.

Of course, if you’re one that uses a passcode on your iPhone or iPad, you can allow Intelliscreen X to show up your lock screen without any problem. This tweak is the one to get for those that like to have a ton of information quickly available at a glance.

Messages+

Messages+ ($7.99) is a component of IntelliScreen X, but it can also be used independently. It allows users to reply to iMessages with a pop-up.

This makes it so that users don’t have to open up the Message app just to reply to a message. It’s a rather convenient jailbreak tweak, especially if you do a lot of texting.

If you haven’t jailbroken your iPhone or iPad, you should consider it. Here is a list of reasons to Jailbreak iOS 7 and a link to our guide on how to jailbreak iOS 7. Be aware, though, that you must be running iOS 7.0.6 or older, as iOS 7.1 isn’t jailbreakable at this time.

That should be BiteSMS, which is free, not messages+.

BiteSMS is not free. If you are using a source on Cydia, it is a cracked version, not free.

BiteSMS has a free version on the BigBossRepo which has ad’s. Otherwise it is completely free.
