iPhone 6 Photos: 3 Alleged Photos Reveal Key Details

Published

on

Three new iPhone 6 photos allegedly show off a new design with a bigger display and a tray of batteries destined for the new iPhone that Apple will deliver in 2014.

It isn’t possible to verify these iPhone 6 photos, but leaks like these make sense as Apple is rumored to start production as early as May for an iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch model.

All of these potential iPhone 6 photos include factors that point to a new iPhone design in 2014, and a larger iPhone 6 display.

iPhone 6 rumors suggest Apple is planning to release two iPhone 6 models this year with larger displays and a new design to match the bigger display. In addition to rumors and leaks, Apple traditionally keeps an iPhone design for two years before offering a new look and materials. By sticking with the same design, but new features for a two-year period Apple foster a wider array of accessories and keeps buyers happier for a longer period.

With that in mind, there is a growing amount of evidence that Apple is planning to use Sapphire and a larger display in a new iPhone 6 design.

In 2013 Apple shipped its first plastic iPhone alongside a metal iPhone, and rumors suggest that two iPhone 6 models will both use a metal and glass design, but nothing is confirmed and leaks still don’t show what the back of the iPhone 6 might look like and if Apple will stick with chamfered edges.

A series of photos surfaced over the weekend showing what may be a mold for a larger iPhone 6, but this leak did not include any details that show what the iPhone 6 design will look like.

Alleged iPhone 6 Photos

Two new photos show an iPhone next to what appears to be the front panel for the iPhone 6. The photo on the left shows an iPhone 5s next to a panel that would sit on an iPhone 6 with a larger display. The photos appeared on iPhon.fr, after originally showing up on Chinese social networking site Weibo. This service is the source of many iPhone 6 rumors, and with various individuals posting it is difficult to establish a track record for the Wiebo leaks overall, but some specific sources deliver consistently good information.

The alleged iPhone 6 photos show a larger part that the publication claims shows a 4.7-inch screen on the iPhone 6. The opening for the screen is the same ratio for the iPhone 5s, which is promising.

These photos appear to be set in a factory or shipping area, where a company may be planning to send them to an Apple partner for manufacturing. It is also possible that these are well designed fakes for a knock off iPhone with a larger screen.

A separate iPhone 6 photo leak doesn’t show the actual phone, but it does show what may be the iPhone 6 battery. This report comes from nowhereelse.fr, which was behind the leak of the iPhone 6 mold earlier this week.

It is impossible to tell if this is the real iPhone 6 battery, but it does look similar to an iPhone 5s battery. The original report highlights small changes to the connection and metal part moved to the side of the battery. This is a hint of a new design that requires Apple to move internal parts around. There is not enough detail to point to a iPhone 6 battery size or capacity at this time.

A new battery design may line up with a report that Apple will automate the installation of the battery for the iPhone 6, similar to the MacBook assembly procedures.

This leak is interesting, but without more information it is only a part of figuring out a new iPhone 6 design. In 2013 we saw a tray of alleged iPhone 5s batteries leak from this same publication.

A report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in early April suggests that Apple is planning to use a larger battery in an iPhone 6 with a 5.5-inch display.

iPhone 6 rumors point to a new look and bigger displays on two models, and recent leaks suggest Apple is planning for two iPhone 6 release dates this year to accommodate a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 closer to the holidays. Consumer interest in a large screen iPhone 6 is at an all time high according to a recent survey, and Apple’s court battle reveals the company was aware of the need for a bigger display as early as 2012. Apple may include a similar camera, but add optical image stabilization to help users take better looking photos.

We expect to learn about iOS 8 at WWDC 2014 on June 2nd where we may see the first hints of support for an iPhone 6 with a larger display.
