New Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Planned

It appears that another Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 release is planned for the future as a new leak indicates that the company is planning to bring another version of the Galaxy S5 to shelves.

Back in April, Samsung and its carrier partners released the Galaxy S5 into the world. The device, the company’s Galaxy S4 successor, arrived for well over 100 countries around the world including the United States, one of the main battlegrounds for Android manufacturers.

In the United States, the Galaxy S5 was scooped up by a number of carriers including the big five. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon have all carried the Galaxy S5 on shelves for weeks though their release was limited. The device is not available in 32GB form nor is it available in blue or gold. Samsung announced all three of those models on stage though it, and its carriers, have declined to offer specific details for U.S. customers.

Today, thanks to a leak, one of those details has been cleared up. The well-sourced evleaks claims that the gold Samsung Galaxy S5 will be heading to Verizon at some point down the road. It’s not clear when the carrier plans to release its new version of the new Galaxy S5 and the carrier likely won’t issue any specific details until it gets closer to the actual release date.

evleaks’ information is golden which means that this new Verizon Galaxy S5 release is almost certainly going to happen, it will just take a Verizon announcement to confirm it.

It’s not clear if other carriers will be getting the gold version of the Samsung Galaxy S5. Samsung is well known for giving exclusives to carriers to it’s possible that Verizon will be the only one to carry the gold variant. That remains unconfirmed at this point though.

As for the blue model, rumors remain non-existent. The same goes for the 32GB version of the Galaxy S5 that was rumored to be coming to the United States prior to the Galaxy S5’s release back in April. Carriers remain silent about the prospects.

Verizon’s gold Galaxy S5 should be similar to the black and white versions of the device. This means that it should carry a 5.1-inch full HD display, speedy quad-core processor, 16MP camera, Android 4.4 KitKat, a design that is both water and dust resistant, new TouchWiz software features, and more. The only difference will likely be the gold colored perforated back plate that gives it a distinct look over its brethren.

The carrier’s new Galaxy S5 model will also be a direct challenger to the iPhone 5s. Last year, Apple launched a gold version of its iPhone 5s and the device flew off shelves. While the gold Verizon Galaxy S5 may not sell out immediately, it will certainly stand as another gold option for those that are in the hunt for a new device.

Samsung’s Galaxy S5 is expected to be joined by several new Galaxy-branded devices in the coming weeks including a Galaxy K Zoom, the sequel to last year’s Galaxy S4 Zoom that landed for both AT&T and Verizon. Verizon still hasn’t confirmed the device for arrival but there is a chance that the device could land on its 4G LTE network alongside the Galaxy S5.

There are also rumors that suggest that Samsung could usher in a brand new Samsung Galaxy S5. Rumors attached a Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime name to the device before launch but it’s still not clear what Samsung will call it if it’s ever released.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime rumors point to a high-powered device that includes a number of changes from the Galaxy S5 that is currently on shelves right now. Here is what the device supposedly has on board:

  • 5.2-inch Display with 2560×1440 QHD Resolution
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 16MP Rear Camera/2MP Front Camera
  • 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Quad-Core Processor

So while it might share a 16MP camera with the Galaxy S5, its display, processor and RAM count would be improved over the current Galaxy S5 model.

Early reports suggested that the Galaxy S5 Prime would arrive in several regions including Europe and the United States. However, a more recent report suggests that the device might be limited, just like last year’s Samsung Galaxy Round. Samsung still isn’t talking about this device so nothing is set in stone.

iOS 7.1 iPhone 5s Features

Rumors point to a Galaxy S5 Prime launch in the month of June though a specific date has not been mentioned. LG, one of Samsung’s rivals, is expected to announce the LG G3 later this month and release it in June. The LG G3 is expected to come with a lot of horsepower including a QHD display.

Samsung’s Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to try and take some of the attention away from the LG G3, it’s just not clear who will have access to it when and if it arrives. Those answers should be answered soon as we get closer to the summer.
