iPhone 6 Video Concepts Show Thin New iPhone

Published

on

A new iPhone 6 video concept shows what an iPhone 6 could look like with a thinner design that mirrors the iPad Air and a is available in a variety of color options.

Earlier iPhone 6 concepts showed what a new iPhone might look like next to the iPhone 5s, but this iPhone 6 video concept shows off a super-thin design that looks just like an iPad Air shrunken down to phone size. This is similar to the iPhone 6 leaks and rumors, but the edges don’t completely match the leaked dummy units that are showing up all over the internet.

The actual iPhone 6 design is still up in the air, and will be until Apple announces the device on stage, but that isn’t stopping designers from showing us what a new iPhone might look like. This latest pair of iPhone 6 video concepts include some of the rumors, but use a little more artistic license to show what the iPhone 6 could look like.

This iPhone 6 video concept shows an iPhone 6 Air, which is a larger iPhone with a special wearable accessory that can deliver notifications, take your heartbeat and more. We see some of the iPhone 6 rumors come to life here with a larger display and with the new design that requires a new volume button design.

In this iPhone 6 Air concept video from SCAVidsHD we see a fairly clear take on the iPad Air design with curved edges and a thinner profile. Like the iPad Air this iPhone 6 concept features a headphone jack on the top and the power button is on the top. Apple moved the jack to the bottom on the iPhone 5 and it seems unlikely that the company would move it back up top, also the power button is on the top of this iPhone 6 concept which does not match with analyst notes.

Like the many iPhone 6 dummy units this concept shows a circular flash, instead of a pill shaped dual-LED flash like on the iPhone 5s. This concept also shows a small part of the iPhone 6 camera that sticks out. The current iPhone 6 camera rumors go back and forth on a new type of image stabilization that would allow users to take better photos, but require a thicker camera module. If Apple uses the optical image stabilization this is what it might look like on a very thin phone.

Multiple rumors point to a 2014 iPhone with Touch ID, Apple’s fingerprint unlocking technology, which is present on this concept as well.

The iPhone 6 display is edge-t0-edge, removing the side bezels found on the iPhone 5s. While this type of design could help keep the overall size of the iPhone 6 it’s not clear if Apple is ready to drop the bezels. Users see a 5-inch display here, while all rumors suggest Apple is planning two sizes above and below 5-inches.

At the end of the first iPhone 6 video concept we also see an iRing, which can act as a part of Apple’s wearable strategy to track various health information and show notifications. An iRing first appeared in an analyst note about a potential Apple TV control, and is not likely part of the new Apple Products for 2014.

A second iPhone 6 video concept from the same source includes a look at how the iPhone 6 would look in a variety of colors. Apple only sells the flagship iPhone 5s in three colors, but the iPhone 5c is available in multiple bright colors. One report from Macotakara suggests Apple is planning to offer the iPhone 6 in more color options, which could combine colors people love with an iPhone that they actually want to buy.

Both of these iPhone 6 video concepts run iOS 8 according to the description, but there is not much in the way of new features coming to life on these two concepts. We expect to see iOS 8 unveiled at WWDC 2014 in June, with an iOS 8 beta soon after for developers. The iOS 8 release date will likely arrive in the fall along with a new iPhone.

As summer approaches iPhone 6 rumors start to take shape and agree on certain features and even on a potential iPhone 6 release date. In our 2014 iPhone roundup we share everything we think we know about the iPhone 6. The five bullet points below include the most important information.

  • iPhone 6 Screen Size – 4.7-inch iPhone and a 5.5-inch iPhone
  • iPhone 6 Release Date – September for the 4.7-inch, late 2014 for a 5.5-inch iPhone.
  • iPhone 6 Design – A new thinner iPhone 6 design with more metal, power button on the right.
  • iPhone 6 Specs – Apple A8 processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP Camera, Touch ID.
  • iPhone 6 Price – Possible price jump of $50 to $100, Expect a higher price for a 5.5-inch iPhone.

Apple’s iPhone 6 will likely match up with some of these rumors, especially those which come from analysts with good contacts in the Apple supply chain, but it is unlikely that the new iPhone will look exactly like this.

iPhone 6 Concept Shows Small, Medium and Large

iPhone 6 rumors point to a larger display and this iPhone 6 concept is one of the first to show us what the iPhone 6 might look like with three sizes. If Apple introduces two new iPhone 6 models, it is likely that one smaller iPhone 5s type device will remain at a cheaper price.

This iPhone 6 concept from ConceptsiPhone on YouTube shows us what two larger iPhone 6 models could look like next to a mini model that offers a 3.5-inch display. We typically see Samsung and HTC offer three sizes with different versions of a similar phone, so it would not be out of the question. Still, it is more likely that Apple would stick with a 4-inch display on the smallest iPhone they sell in 2014.

Disappointing article, these rumors are old and while the video is nice, we know it’s far from the case mocks that popped up. Also, the date was moved up for the 4.7 incher.
