iPhone 6 Photos Show Apple’s Potential Fall Lineup

New alleged iPhone 6 photos showcase what could be the iPhone lineup that Apple introduces later on this year.

For weeks now, we’ve heard about Apple’s supposed plans for the iPhone 6, the successor to the iPhone 5s and a device that is expected to compete against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, LG G3, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Rumors have tackled everything from its screen size to its processor to its camera to its release date to its design.

Lately, we’ve seen a number of leaks hint at the iPhone 6’s potential design and one that is supposedly going to look more like the iPod touch than the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5. The leaks center around supposed iPhone 6 models and cases that are likely based on leaked schematics, rumors and perhaps, inside knowledge.

Today, another alleged iPhone 6 leak shows what Apple’s iPhone 6 lineup could look like in the fall. The leak comes from Nowherelese, a French site that is notorious for leaking Apple parts ahead of release and it depicts what they believe could be cases model after the real dimensions of the iPhone 6’s form factor.

Apple could release two iPhone 6 models later this year.

The images seen here depict 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models and their supposed cases. The site claims that the dimensions of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 could be 138mm x 67mm x 7mm thin. It also claims that the larger iPhone, rumored to be arriving this year alongside the 4.7-inch model, could measure 157mm x 81mm x 7mm.

While these aren't the iPhone 6 itself

The iPhone 6 could come in two sizes, 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches.

This is thicker than the 6mm iPod touch, the device that the iPhone 6 design will supposedly pull from, but it does fall into the range that iPhone 6 rumors have centered on for weeks.

Rumors suggest that Apple could deliver an iPhone 6 that is up to 26% thinner than the iPhone 5s. A recent leak from Ukrainian website suggests Apple is aiming for a smartphone as thin as 6mm, but Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities believes a 6.5 – 7mm thickness is easier for the company to achieve. The iPhone 5s measures 7.6mm thin.

In a note shared by MacRumors, Kuo also says that he believes that the iPhone 6 will come with a power button on right and narrower bezels. This lines up with what we’ve seen on several leaked iPhone 6 mockups. Kuo accurately predicted many of the iPhone 5s’ features before its launch last September so his information is considered more credible than most.

An iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch display will likely be bigger than the iPhone 5s and iPhone 4s.

A recent Macotakara report shared two possible sets of iPhone 6 dimensions for both the 4.7-inch model and 5+inch model, dimensions that lineup with what we’re seeing here.

  • iPhone 6 (4.7) -140 x 70 x 7mm
  • iPhone 6 (5.7) – 160 x 80 x 7mm

Recently, we’ve seen these alleged iPhone 6 mockups get compared to some of the big name devices that are already on the market including the iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5 and the iPhone 5s.

While iPhone 6 mockups continue to display similar dimensions and design qualities but at this point, there is no way to determine if they are based on the real iPhone 6.

In the past, case manufacturers have gambled on the design of the iPhone and failed. In 2012 a leak and sources pointed to a iPhone with a teardrop design and one case company produced a large batch of iPhone cases based on the leak and their sources. The iPhone 5 did not arrive with a teardrop design.

As we push deeper into 2014, iPhone 6 rumors are starting to firm up. Rumors currently point to two different iPhone 6 models. One model is said to be between 4.5-inches and 4.7-inches in size, similar to the mockup seen here. The other iPhone 6 is thought to be somewhere around 5.5-inches or 5.7-inches. Both are said to have full HD resolution.

The iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch display may be slightly smaller than the Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8.

Unfortunately, it’s still not clear if Apple will release both iPhones this year. iPhone 6 release date rumors indicate that Apple is preparing the new iPhone for the fall but it’s not clear if the company will push one or two new iPhones in 2014. Reports almost universally suggest that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will arrive in 2014. There is, however, conflicting information regarding the supposed 5.5-inch model.

While some believe that it will arrive this fall alongside the 4.7-inch variant, others believe that Apple’s Galaxy Note competitor may have been delayed until next year.

So far, the biggest iPhone 6 leak to date comes from the well-sourced Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. He sees an iPhone 6 coming with some substantial upgrades including:

  • iPhone 6 Screen Size and Resolution – 4.7- inch (1334 x 750) 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080).
  • iPhone 6 Release Dates – 4.7-inch in September, 5.5-inch in Holiday season.
  • iPhone 6 Design – Power button on right, narrower bezels, larger iPhone 6 as two-hands needed.
  • iPhone 6 Camera – No major Megapixel bump, but added image stability.
  • iPhone 6 Specs – A8, 1GB RAM, Touch ID, 6.5mm to 7mm thickness, NFC.

Kuo, like others, believes we’ll see two new iPhones arrive in the fall to replace the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. It’s not clear which device, or devices, would be dropped though the three year old iPhone 4s is certainly a candidate.

Despite the link-bait headline, I fail to see ANY iPhone 6 photos in this article.

“An iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch display will likely be bigger than the iPhone 5s and iPhone 4s.” The intellectual prowess of this statement cannot be understated. Translated: A phone with a bigger screen will likely be bigger than a phone with a smaller screen. Amazing revelation.
