Nexus 5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update Now Available

Earlier today, the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update started rolling out in force. Finally, after a bit of a wait, the Nexus 5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update is available to manually install ahead of Google’s OTA update that might take a week or so to complete.

Yesterday, after weeks and weeks of rumor, Google finally confirmed the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for arrival. The company dumped the update into the AOSP and provided binaries and factory images to owners of its Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10. The arrival of these files not only confirmed these updates for the first time but it also pointed to imminent OTA updates.

Right on cue, Google started pushing out the Nexus 7 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update to the Wi-Fi only version of the 2013 model. The update, which is currently rolling out OTA, is also available to manually install. Nexus 7 owners need only to download the file from Google’s servers, ensure that the device is running stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat and use the adb sideload method. Those that aren’t proficient at this need only wait for the OTA update to arrive.

A short time later, we saw the start a dramatic Android 4.4.3 KitKat push. Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates for the Moto X, Moto G and Moto E were confirmed and the update started rolling out to Google’s Play Edition devices including the Galaxy S4, HTC One M7 and HTC One M8.

And now, after a bit of a wait, the long awaited Nexus 5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update is now available to manually install ahead of its Over-the-Air roll out.

Nexus 5 users that are currently running stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat and know how to sideload software can use this file to install the Nexus 5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update and all of its fixes right now. Those that don’t know how to sideload can take a look at our guide from last year. Just substitute today’s update for last year’s and the Nexus 5 for the Nexus 7. It should work.

Those that don’t want to sideload are in luck as well. The Nexus 5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat OTA is pushing out right now. The update is going to roll out in stages which means that while some owners will get the update today, others will be waiting a few days for Android 4.4.3 KitKat and its improvements to arrive.

Sprint says that the Nexus 5 update will be rolling out until June 9th which means that it could take a little less than a week for the 90MB update to land for Nexus 5 owners around the U.S. and around the world. Sprint also says that the update will enable Sprint Spark band 26 and band 41 for its Nexus 5 users.

Google’s new build brings a number of fixes and security enhancements to Android users. For Nexus users, it also delivers a brand new look to the People application and the dialer. The dialer is the same look that we saw Google accidentally leak several weeks ago.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat is also expected to land for Google’s Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 at some point though neither of those updates is currently available. We imagine that they will be made available sometime this week, perhaps as soon as today, as Google works to upgrade all of its Nexus and Google Play Edition devices to the latest version of KitKat.

These updates are likely part of a broader roll out that is expected to include the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S4 LTE-A. Samsung is reportedly hard at work testing the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for arrival though it’s not clear when the update will arrive for owners of its latest Galaxy S smartphone.

A long wait comes to an end. I am facing camera bug issue in my Nexus 5 from last 5 months due to which the battery of Nexus 5 gets drained soon. I will definitely update this version once I fully charged my phone on qi car charger.
