New iPhone 6 Leaks Help Rumors Firm Up

Published

on

A plethora of alleged iPhone 6 parts offer further evidence of a two iPhone 6 screens sizes for this fall. We already expect to see two iPhone 6 screen sizes, but a lack of leaks focused on the 5.5-inch model led to some skepticism and worries it would arrive much later in the year.

A new pair of iPhone 6 leaks offer more evidence of two iPhone 6 screen sizes for the fall, with photos showing alleged iPhone 6 parts that are similar, but different enough to suggest one is for a 4.7inch iPhone 6 and the other is for a 5.5-inch iPhone 6.

These new iPhone 6 parts come right as rumors suggest Apple is starting iPhone 6 production, with a larger order of iPhones that could help avoid the normal shortages during a new iPhone release date

As it stands, these alleged iPhone 6 parts support two models and the timing makes sense for an iPhone 6 release date in late September.

With the iPhone 6 release date less than two months away, we should start to see even more leaks arrive from supply chain sources that sneak photos of the parts before they make it inside Foxconn for the iPhone 6 production.

Nowhereelse.fr and apple.club.tw share a collection of photos that they claim reveal iPhone 6 parts. Unlike some early leaks we see multiple sizes and small differences between the same parts, which is something you would expect to see in across two new iPhones with different size displays.

The photo above shows two iPhone 6 home buttons. Both of these include Touch ID, Apple’s fingerprint sensor that unlocks the phone and will offer more features in iOS 8, but they are not identical. The black home button connects to a shorter cable than the white home button. This leads us to believe the white iPhone 6 home button is for a larger 5.5-inch iPhone.

We also see a number of flex and volume cables on both sites. Apple.club.tw claims the iPhone 6 flex cable they share is for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6. If true this is a good sign that Apple is moving forward with the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 production, even though recent reports suggest they are not certain if it will be far along enough to announce at an event in September.

Next up is another photo showing the back plate for an iPhone 6,. This is a part that many leaks mirror, though this is in gold instead of silver or space gray. The gold iPhone 6 back also shows an Apple logo with a covered in back part, similar to a leak last week.

The Apple logo on the back of this iPhone 6 part does not look transparent or designed for use as a notification LED window as some reports suggest.

Although this is not absolute proof that Apple is working on a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 or that there will be no notification LED in the Apple logo, it is more evidence to support the most believable iPhone 6 rumors.

The iPhone 6 rumors point to a new iPhone 6 design with curved edges and round corners. We see a new all aluminum back, that current leaks show with a fat white mark on top of the aluminum. This may be part of an antenna break like on the HTC One M8, but if so it is much thicker.

Some reports suggest the finished design will not include such thick lines. Inside Apple will likely add a new Apple A8 processor and pack in an upgraded camera, though the specifics are  not firm enough to predict exactly what camera upgrade Apple will deliver.

Expect the iPhone 6 to run iOS 8 with some exclusive iOS 8 features that the company announces at the iPhone 6 event.

Honestly, every single rear casing leak has to be a fake no matter how real it looks. The cutout for the flash resembles that of the iPhone 5. Why the hell would Apple go back to that flash when they just brought a new dual flash to the iPhone 5s? It makes NO sense!
