Apple dropped the MacBook Pro Retina price last year, so it is unlikely that this new MacBook Pro Retina will include any type of price cut like the MacBook Air 2014 update and the recent cheap iMac option.

According to the latest report the new MacBook Pro Retina release date is tomorrow July 29th. It’s not surprising for a small spec bump to arrive with little notice, and Intel announced the processors that will likely power these new MacBook Pro Retina 2014 notebooks.

Macg.co reports Apple plans the MacBook Pro Retina 2014 release will arrive this week for both the 13-inch and 15-inch models. This lines up with a report from MacRumors over the weekend, showing faster Intel Haswell processors for the new Macbook Pro Retina release.

The two upgrades for the MacBook Pro Retina 2014 are faster processors with a 200Mhz boost across the board and more RAM. If this leak is correct, Apple plans to offer 16GB of RAM Standard on the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2014 model.

We do not know what Apple plans to offer for the 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina 2014 update, but it could be a similar speed boost. If Apple decides to boost the RAM we could see 8GB on the cheapest MacBook Pro Retina by default, but that is only speculation.

This is not the 12-inch MacBook Pro Retina that we expect sometime later this year with an all new design and bolder updates. The display on these models should deliver the same resolution and quality as the current generation. with the same design.
