New Galaxy S4 & Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Updates Roll Out

While they might not be the Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates that Galaxy Note and Galaxy S users have been hoping for, U.S. carriers are pushing out new Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates that come with some fixes and enhancements of their own.

Since January, Samsung has been pushing out Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates to many of its top devices including the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, and Galaxy Note 2. We’ve even seen that trend continue after the arrival of last month’s Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates, updates that are aimed at fixing Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems.

Today, T-Mobile and Verizon have pushed out new Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates. The updates come a day after Sprint rolled out a brand new Android 4.4.4 KitKat update of its own.

T-Mobile is now pushing out Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates to its Galaxy S5 and its Galaxy Note 3. It’s not clear what these two updates bring to the table though they could perhaps have something to do with T-Mobile’s new VoLTE network that it says is now live nationwide. The updates appear to be live through Samsung Kies and Over-the-Air.

Verizon is also rolling out a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update though the carrier has fortunately detailed the contents of the update. Verizon’s new Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update may not be Android 4.4.3 KitKat or Android 4.4.4 KitKat but it certainly delivers a handful of bug fixes and enhancements to a device that certainly is in need of them.

In addition to the bug fixes, the update delivers updated applications and support for a number of new features including improvements to S Finder, YouTube, and Emergency Mode. This new Verizon Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update should be available to Verizon users right now Over-the-Air. Users will simply want to check in the device’s settings for the update.

These updates come just a day after Sprint started rolling out a brand new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for its Galaxy S4. This new Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is highlighted by security fixes and HD Voice. Both are crucial additions to the aging former flagship and Sprint users can get a hold of them right now. The update is rolling out Over-the-Air.

It’s not yet clear if other carriers including AT&T and U.S. Cellular will follow suit. Bug fixes updates are typically rolled out at the carriers discretion so it’s possible that other devices will simply skip ahead to something else.

Samsung continues to push out Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates to its Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy Note 2 though the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update has come to a screeching halt in recent days. While Galaxy S3 users in the United States have been bumped up from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates in other parts of the world remain missing in action.

Unfortunately, the company has done nothing to clear up that confusion or the confusion surrounding Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat. Samsung was rumored to be working on Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates but thus far, those rumors have not proven fruitful.

Android L on Android 4.4.4

The company also remains tight-lipped about the Android L update, the update that Google announced at Google I/O 2014. The update is expected to touch down later on this year and while companies like HTC have confirmed Android L for flagship devices, Samsung still hasn’t said a word about its plans for Android L.

Newer devices like the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 should get upgraded to the software while older devices like the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 sit in a gray area. Samsung tends to update devices for 24 months before kicking them to the curb. The Galaxy S3 turned two in May while the Galaxy Note 2 turns two in September.

I read the first 3 words and the 120/h sitting under them from DefloraViles comment and I knew it was just another asshole spamming yet another website. Which is why I told DefloraVile to kill himself. Seriously though. kill yourself.

Anyone else having problems with the updates on S5? I have t-mobile. The updates suck and my phone randomly restarts itself ever since my last update. Web pages also freeze all the time suddenly.
