Auto Shutoff

Auto Shutoff

Every Xbox One includes a small internal timer. When users are actively doing something on their console, the timer is dormant. When they aren’t, it secretly counts the amount of time that has passed since a user gave it something to do. When enough time has passed, the Xbox One shuts down due to inactivity – saving users a ton on their power bill over a long period of time.

Unfortunately, that timer hasn’t kept pace with the amount of new features available on the Xbox One. In particular, it won’t shut down the Xbox One if users are watching live television and because there’s no sleep timer to set for TV alone, the console will stay on for as long as you let it. It’s understandable that Microsoft won’t want to go automatically shutting off user’s televisions if they’re watching something. Still it seems like a pretty common problem with a simple easy fix.

You know what needs to go? Journalists that think they’re journalists when they can’t list 7 things on one page. Eat shit.
