Two new iPhone 6 photos show off more of the iPhone 6 design with a closer look at the new back of the iPhone 6, including a closer look on the iPhone 6 design change that allows Apple to skip the glass on the back of the new iPhone.
This is not the first look at the back of the new iPhone, but it is the best look at what sits behind the ugly plastic or rubber lines that appear on the back of every iPhone 6 photo and leak to date.
Our iPhone 6 mock-up shows these white lines on the new iPhone, and they are a constant source of discussion on Twitter and in the comments from users that do not like the new look.
Two new iPhone 6 photos that Sonny Dickson claims are, “100% the real deal.”, we get a closer look at the new iPhone design that will allow antenna communication.
The close up shot shows an area where the rubber is peeled away to show a break in the aluminum. This is very similar to the HTC One and HTC One M8 design. The break is on the outside of the device, and not on the inside, which is why the rest of the iPhone 6 back plate leaks don’t show any telltale marks on the inside.
In addition to the antenna breaks shown in both iPhone 6 photos, previous leaks show an open Apple logo that Apple may also use for antenna communication.
Aluminum and metal are not friendly to WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and cellular connectivity, which is why the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s used a glass back and why the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s included glass plates at the top and bottom of the phone.
The HTC One M8 includes gaps in the metal on the back, with a rubber-like material in place to complete the design. The HTC One M8 shows how the final Apple design may look this fall with a material filling in this area.
It’s not clear from the Sonny Dickson leak if we will see rubber here or some other material. A report last month indicates the iPhone 6 design will look better than the current crop of mock ups that only include a white marking in these areas.
In the second of these iPhone 6 photos Dickson shares a full shot of the back of the iPhone 6. There is an Apple logo, but no other markings on the iPhone that we will likely see on a final model.
Although it is tough to tell from this angle, the camera lens appears to stick out slightly, which is something we’ve heard is a possibility. There is a circular opening that suggests Apple found a way to cram the dual-LED flash into a circle and remove the pill shape that we saw on the iPhone 5s. A dual-LED flash, which Apple calls True-tone, can fire different colors based on the environment to deliver a more natural looking photo while still using flash.
According to Re/code and The Wall Street Journal, Apple plans to announce the iPhone 6 on September 9th. The iPhone 6 release date could come as soon as September 19th, with an iOS 8 release a few days before it.
We expect to see a new iPhone 6 design and two iPhone 6 sizes. Rumors point to a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 with a 1,704 x 960 resolution on both sizes. iPhone 6 specs leaks show a faster Apple A8 processor and suggest Apple plans to include NFC for mobile payments.
With the iPhone 6 release just weeks away, we're starting to see iPhone 5s deals emerge, deals that knock substantial amounts off the full price. The price drop certainly makes the iPhone 5s a worthy candidate for prospective iPhone 6 buyers but it also helps that the iPhone 5s is still a high quality smartphone.
The iPhone 5s remains one of the best smartphone options on the planet and it's a device that we still recommend to those looking for a brand new smartphone, regardless of the situation.
From its solid camera, to its sleek metal design, to its beautiful 4-inch Retina Display, the iPhone 5s packs a great all-around punch. It's not the iPhone 6 but it could be the next best thing. Those in the hunt for a new device would be wise to take a look at it, if only to rule it out ahead of an iPhone 6 purchase.
