on

Google’s Android 4.4.3 KitKat update rolled out in June and since then, it has landed for a number of different devices all over the world. With Android 4.4.3 KitKat update release details swirling, we want to key in on the five latest details concerning Google’s important Android 4.4.2 KitKat bug fix update.

June was an extremely busy month for Google. Not only did it announce and release two Android 4.4 KitKat updates, it announced and released the Android L beta, an early version of the Android L update that’s expected to touch down later on this year alongside new Nexus products. Before Android L arrives though, companies are rolling out Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates to alleviate Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat was the first of the two new Android 4.4 KitKat updates and it touched down with a number of bug fixes on board. It also introduced cosmetic changes to the People application and the look of the dialer. Android 4.4.3 KitKat may not be a big update but it’s an important update nonetheless.

In late June, Google pushed out Android 4.4.4 KitKat, a smaller update that contains just one fix: A security patch for OpenSSL vulnerabilities. And while companies like Motorola and Sony have opted to forge ahead with Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates with Android 4.4.3 KitKat fixes on board, other companies have chosen to roll out Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat fix on board.

Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat roll out is confusing, to say the least, and that’s why we want to help simplify things for device owners. Here, we want to take a look at five new key details regarding the Android 4.4.3 KitKat roll out. These new details will help paint a clear picture of where the roll out is currently at and provide some clarity about where the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update is heading next.

HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat Updates Pushing Out

Yesterday, the HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update picked up steam as it landed for several new devices in North America. As expected, the update landed for the T-Mobile HTC One M8 in the United States but it appears that it also landed for several Canadian carriers as well.

The updates are all massive, close to 600MB in size, and owners of the HTC One M8 on T-Mobile and in Canada are going to want to remain patient during the download and install process because it could take awhile to complete. Mileage is going to vary based on connection speed.

Like all previous versions of the HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update, the T-Mobile and Canadian versions come stocked with bug fixes and enhancements aimed at squashing bugs and improving both the Android and Sense experience. It’s a crucial update and one that HTC One M8 owners will want to install.

We’re expecting a number of other HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates to push out as Aussie and European carriers continue to target August and September for both the HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 Android 4.4.3 KitKat updates.

AT&T & Verizon HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat Release Dates

AT&T and Verizon have yet to roll out their versions of the HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update though we now know when to expect them. HTC’s Mo Versi claims that the AT&T HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update is still on track for August and that its targeting approval for next week. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the update is going to push out next week, only that the company is targeting it.

Take the Verizon HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for example. HTC’s Jason Mackenzie says that the update should “honestly be out by now” but the company ran into a GPS issue that needs to be fixed. The fix is going to push the Verizon HTC One M8 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update back into mid-September though a release date is still unknown.

HTC will likely keep its customers updated on the roll out process as we push towards September.

HTC One M7 Android 4.4.3 KitKat Roll Out Update

Yesterda,y the HTC One M7 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update started to rolling out to owners of the international version of the device. Like the HTC One M8 update, the HTC One M7 (non-Developer Edition) upgrade is well over 500MB in size which means that users will want to set aside ample time to get the upgrade downloaded and installed.

HTC’s One M7 update follows in the footsteps of the HTC One M8 upgrade and offer Android 4.4.3 KitKat’s bug fixes on top of enhancements for the company’s Sense UI. As we’ve noted, the HTC One M7 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update is expected to land for a number of devices in August though specific release dates remain scarce.

This will almost certainly be the last major update the HTC One M7 receives before its upgrade to Android L which makes it a software update worth installing right now.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update

Last week, Vodafone Australia released a brand new schedule that lists its upcoming Android update plans. There, on the schedule, is a lone Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for the Galaxy S5. The carrier says that the update is in testing but it does not provide any other details like its release date or the features that will be on board.

When an update enters the testing process, it’s usually a few weeks before it rolls out to users. This means that we could potentially see this lone Android 4.4.3 KitKat upgrade roll out in August or September ahead of the Android L release.

This is the only Android 4.4.3 KitKat update that we’ve seen emerge for older Galaxy smartphones or tablets but if it does roll out, there’s a chance that we could see it emerge for others.

Galaxy Note 4 Software

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung’s brand new Galaxy Note smartphone that’s set for arrival on September 3rd, could come equipped with Android 4.4.3 KitKat on board. Benchmarks have suggested that Samsung is at least testing the software on the Galaxy Note 4 and a recent spec leak pointed to the presence of Android 4.4.3 KitKat and not Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The Galaxy Note 4 launch date will come just days before the iPhone 6 launch.

The Galaxy Note 4 launch date will come just days before the iPhone 6 launch.

What’s interesting is that the company’s upcoming Samsung Galaxy Alpha, a mid-range device, will be coming with Android 4.4.4 KitKat and not Android 4.4.3 KitKat. While nothing is confirmed, it’s looking like the Galaxy Note 4 might be one of the first, and perhaps only, Samsung devices with Android 4.4.3 KitKat or Android 4.4.4 KitKat on board.
