Galaxy Note 4 Specs Gain Focus

As we get closer to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date, Galaxy Note 4 rumors have become rampant and today, a new leak puts Galaxy Note 4 specs in focus shortly before Samsung announces the new Galaxy Note.

Earlier this month, Samsung announced an Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event for September 3rd. The company still hasn’t revealed what it will be announcing at the show, scheduled to take place in Berlin, Beijing and New York City but the Galaxy Note 4 is all but confirmed for arrival thanks to rumors and thanks to Samsung itself.

For months, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 rumors have targeted the Galaxy Note 4 release date, Galaxy Note 4 software and the long list of Galaxy Note 4 specs that Samsung is expected to use to entice buyers this fall. In particular, Galaxy Note 4 spec leaks have been rampant in recent weeks as they attempt to put the device together ahead of Samsung’s announcement.

Galaxy Note 4 Features

Today, Galaxy Note 4 spec rumors have gained focus thanks to a new report from SamMobile that outlines all of the key details regarding the Galaxy Note 4 camera.

The report aligns itself with earlier Galaxy Note 4 rumors that indicated that the Galaxy Note 4 would be coming with an upgraded 16MP camera, complete with Optical Image Stabilization technology, also known as OIS. OIS is found on key Android devices like the LG G3 and Nexus 5 but it has never been available on the Galaxy Note series.

It appears that Samsung will equip the Galaxy Note 4 with a 16MP Sony IMX240 camera sensor with OIS technology. It will evidently be able to shoot UHD resolution at 30 frames per second. UHD resolution is 3840× 2160. The sensor mirrors the camera found on the Galaxy S5 LTE-A in Korea minus the OIS technology.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 might also come with an upgraded front-facing camera. Instead of a 2.1MP camera, the Galaxy Note 4 is rumored to have a 3.7-megapixel camera sensor that can capture photos and video in QHD or 2560 × 1440 resolution. That’s a significant step up from the Galaxy Note 3’s front-facing camera, if true.

SamMobile claims that these new sensors will be supported by an array of features including something called Side Touch. Side Touch is evidently a sensor that’s embedded in the bottom right of the device that will allow users to simply tap to take a photo or start a video. That’s not all either.

Samsung is well known for introducing new camera features with every flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note smartphone and it looks like the Galaxy Note 4 will be no different. The device is expected to be accompanied by a number of new camera features including a new gesture that allows users easy access when the phone is turned off and four new camera modes that are intended for selfies. Those modes are called Wide Selfie, Selfie, and Selfie Alarm.

Here is how those breakdown:

  • Wide Selfie: Will allow users to take a wide-angle selfie.
  • Selfie: This will supposedly allow users to take selfies simply by smiling or winking.
  • Selfie Alarm: This feature will force the rear camera to automatically detect and focus on a user’s face during a selfie.

It looks like the Galaxy Note 4 will gain the Galaxy S5’s camera features including HDR Live, Selective Focus, Fast Auto-focus. The Galaxy Note 4’s camera interface will supposedly be the same as the Galaxy S5’s as well.

In addition to a new camera, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 rumors point to a 5.7-inch QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat, and a design that could combine both metal and plastic like the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Alpha. It’s also expected to incorporate a fingerprint sensor into the home button.

Galaxy Note 4 release date rumors have continued to point to a quick arrival in an effort to take on the iPhone 6. Rumors have singled out the week of September 15th as a possible release window for the Galaxy Note 4 though that remains unconfirmed. By comparison, last year’s Galaxy Note 3 launched September 4th and was released on September 25th.

Samsung is clearly focused in on battling the iPhone 6, Apple’s new flagship. The iPhone 6 is expected to feature two larger display sizes and a release date in September. September 19th has been pegged as a probable release date through that date, like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date, remains unconfirmed at this point.
