iPad Deals Deliver Huge Back to School Savings

New iPad Air deals and iPad mini deals knock the price of Apple’s two flagship tablets down as they offer prospective iPad buyers a solid alternative to waiting for the rumored iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, both of which are expected to arrive later this year.

As we push towards the fall, we’re starting to see retailers host deals on Apple’s top mobile devices including the iPhone and iPad. Today, new iPad Air deals and iPad mini with Retina Display deals have emerged, deals that might be tempting to those that have been holding out for a new iPad but are growing impatient with the latest iPad rumors.

Staples is currently holding a sale on the iPad Air that knocks $30 off the price on all iPad Air models. That means that the $499 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad Air is now just $470. While that’s a great deal in and of itself, it also looks like a promotional code (11605) for $100 off select computers priced at $499 or more works with the iPad Air.

This means that the $499 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad Air drops down to just $369 with tax. That’s a huge price cut for a device that’s considered, by many, to be the best tablet on the planet. It appears that the deal works with other versions of the iPad Air though mileage might vary. It’s not clear how long this promotion will last so those interested will want to act fast.

A new iPad mini deal has sprouted up at Best Buy and it takes the iPad mini price down $50 with free shipping included. According to 9to5Toys, those with an .edu email address can knock an extra $50 off the price of the iPad mini with Retina, a deal that will take the base model down to a mere $299. Again, that’s a huge steal for a device that is considered one of the best tablets on the market. Best Buy’s deal lasts until Monday.

These deals have emerged just a day after Apple announced its September 9th launch event, an event that is rumored to be focused on the iPhone 6 and the iWatch and not the company’s iPad. And while the company may not debut new iPads in September, iPad rumors suggest that the company may have a new iPad Air, new iPad mini with Retina and a larger iPad Pro up its sleeve.

The latest leak shows a possible new iPad Air 2 design that matches some iPhone 6 leaks.

Both the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 are rumored to be incremental successors to the current models though both are expected to feature some upgrades including new cameras, new processors and Touch ID. Rumors also suggest that iPad Air 2 specs could include an anti-reflective coating that could make it easier to use in harsh lighting.

The two devices are rumored to be coming out this fall with rumors suggesting an early iPad Air 2 release. Last year, both the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 were announced in October and released in November, just ahead of the holiday shopping season.

iPad rumors also now point to a larger iPad, a device that’s being called iPad Pro. According to Bloomberg, the alleged 12.9-inch iPad Pro will release to the public in early 2015, with production scheduled to begin by the first quarter of next year.

Other than the rumored release timeline, we don’t know much about this fabled 12.9-inch iPad Pro. We heard late last year that the device would have a Retina display, but would come with an ever higher resolution than the current resolution found on today’s iPad’s, making the iPad Pro one of the highest resolution displays on the market if it does land on shelves.

For now though, consumers must contend with the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display, two excellent tablets that should see more deals emerge as we enter the fall.
