GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4 Release Date Confirmed

Rockstar Games, developers of the Grand Theft Auto franchise of games that’s available on everything from the PlayStation 2 to Apple’s iPhone, have finally confirmed the GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS3 release. The GTA 5 release date for Xbox One and PS4 is November 18th.

Rockstar revealed the GTA 5 release only moments ago, finally bringing an end to rumors that GTA 5 for the Xbox One and PS4 was delayed until next year. The developer announced that it would be producing a version of GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4 at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. Grand Theft Auto V originally debuted on the Xbox 360 and PS3 last year to critical acclaim and very high sales figures. In fact, the game was so popular that it quickly reached a billion in sales.

With the game already being out for a year, Rockstar needed to give buyers a seriously good reason to purchase GTA 5 for the Xbox One and PS4 on release day and it seems to have delivered. This morning’s blog revealing the GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4 release date also highlighted dozens of changes that have been made to these versions of the game.

More horse power and hard drive caching will make GTA 5 for the Xbox One and PS4 better looking than it ever was on the Xbox 360 and PS3. That’s an interesting feat considering the game already looked impressive. Rockstar says that the ability to draw objects that are farther away from players and make every texture more details should help with immersion.

GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4 buyers can also expect what Rockstar is calling some exclusive content. That line up of new things includes new weapons, vehicles and things to do. The weather effects in the game and how crashing into someone looks have also been updated. More animals, cars and plants will also populate the world of GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4. The game’s 17 different radio stations will also have new music included.

GTA 5 players who loved creating mayhem in the game’s multiplayer experience are in for a treat too. These new versions of the game will allow users to team up with up to 30 other Xbox One and PS4 players. Thankfully, their character, all of the money and gear they’ve managed to rack up in Grand Theft Auto Online for GTA 5 will be accessible in Grand Theft Auto Online for GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4. All of the missions Rockstar has released since the game’s original launch date will be available too.

New shooting range events, collectible rare vehicles from past games and more will also be included. In order to get that exclusive content, new GTA 5 buyers will need to have completed the prologue mission while connected to Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network in last year’s game for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Shortly after its press release, Rockstar also revealed a new trailer for GTA 5 for the Xbox One and PS4.

Despite taking an additional year, all the changes that have been made to bring GTA 5 to the latest living room gaming consoles could just convince users to purchase the upgraded title – even if they already own and have completed last year’s version. Mostly, that’s because many of the game’s missions are pretty fun to play over again, but it’s also because Grand Theft Auto Online was designed to be an open world online multiplayer game that users keep coming back to. Since launch, Grand Theft Auto Online has seen tons of new features and content upgrades. It doesn’t hurt that users get to create their own character and pull of jobs with their friends too.

GTA 5 for the Xbox One and PS4 will cost $59.99 when it arrives on store shelves. Rockstar says it will gift users who pre-order the game $1,000,000 worth of in-game currency to spend on houses, weapon upgrades, garages and their businesses. That $1,000,000 will be split between the game’s single player campaign and Grand Theft Auto Online.

The news isn’t so great for users on Windows machines. Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC has been delayed until January 27, 2015.
