How to Sign for iPhone 6 Release Date Delivery

Published

on

You woke up early for the iPhone 6 pre-order, but now you can’t be home on the iPhone 6 release date to sign for your iPhone 6 Plus or iPhone 6 delivery.

Unlike many shipments from Amazon or Best Buy, you need to sign for the iPhone 6 delivery or the FedEx driver will not leave it on your doorstep. The same goes for UPS delivery, which is the service carrying AT&T iPhone 6 deliveries to your doorstep.

Many of the iPhone 6 deliveries we are tracking are scheduled for delivery on the iPhone 6 release date by 3 PM, which is while many of us will be at work.

If you can’t be home for the iPhone 6 release date delivery you can sign for the package ahead of time and leave instructions to deliver your iPhone 6 to a neighbor or ask for it to be placed at your back door. There are also options to reschedule the delivery, hold it at a location or even get a 2 hour delivery window.

Here's what you need to make sure you don't miss your iPhone 6 delivery on Friday.

The first thing you’ll need is your iPhone tracking number. Most carriers are already sharing the tracking number on the order status page or by email as a shipping notification. Check there first, but if you ordered from AT&T, you may need to use a trick to find the iPhone 6 tracking number using the phone number linked to the order.

To do this, go to UPS, click on Search By Reference and then enter the phone number for the order or the Order number without the last two digits.

If you follow these steps, and your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus order is en route, you can do whatever you need to make sure you don’t come home to a “Sorry we missed you” notification from UPS or FedEx.

If you bought your iPhone 6 from Apple you can log in to the account used to place your order and click on the pre-sign for this shipment link. This allows you to complete an authorization for FedEx to leave the iPhone at your house without a signature. This form releases Apple and FedEx from liability if someone steals your iPhone after they leave. You need to sign the form, tell FedEx where to leave it and tape it to your door by 8 AM.

If you can't be home, sign for the iPhone 6 release day delivery online.

If your delivery is coming from Verizon you won’t be able to complete the Apple pre-sign form, so you will want to leave a detailed note, or download and complete this FedEx Release Form.

For iPhone 6 deliveries coming from UPS, the best thing to do is sign up for a free UPS My Choice account that links to your address. After this happens you can sign for packages online. You can also leave delivery instructions and choose other important options.

With UPS My Choice you can ask UPS to Hold for Will Call at a UPS facility or pay $5 to have it delivered to a UPS Store nearby.

FedEx offers a similar option that allows you to have the iPhone 6 delivery held at a local FedEx facility with a phone call or from the web. In most cases you can pick up the iPhone 6 on the same day, but sometimes you will need to wait until Saturday. You don’t need to wait for a missed delivery to do this.

If you plan to pick up the iPhone 6 from any other place you will need your ID and to make sure you arrive when the place is still open. Don’t plan on meeting your FedEx or USP driver at the local facility un-announced, as they typically leave before the place opens.

You mentioned “FedEx offers a similar option that allows you to have the iPhone 6 delivery held at a local FedEx facility with a phone call or from the web”. phone call doesn’t work, the support person told me ATT doesn’t allow the delivery to be changed, until you get a door tag. Of course, you could sign up for Fedex Delivery manager to submit a hold at facility, but I couldn’t get the signup to work, darn it.

Terribly witten article – many grammar mistakes and typos. You should be fired and the job should be given to one of the many competent journalists seeking work.

From UPS customer service: ” Nicole M.: I apologize, based on the type of shipment that is being sent, the Apple iphone, My Choice is not set up to accommodate new users. Nicole M.: I do not have a way to determine an estimated or approximate delivery time. Nicole M.: You can either obtain the notice through your Apple Ship Notification email received as a confirmation of the order, click the “Pre-sign for Delivery” button below the Ship-To address, or you can obtain it from their web site. Nicole M.: On their web site you would access the “Online Order Status” section and click on the “Pre-sign for this Shipment” link.

FedEx will not hold my phone from Verizon for pick-up! Of course I missed the delivery and their next attempt is Monday. I won’t be home Monday, so that means I can’t get my phone? I’ve never heard of not having the option to hold for pick up. This doesn’t make sense!
