Galaxy Note Edge Release Date (U.S.): What to Expect Now

Published

on

With a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date still missing in action in the United States, we want to take a look at what we expect from the highly anticipated, yet mysterious, Galaxy Note Edge release date for buyers in the U.S.

Back on September 3rd, Samsung executives took the stage and announced a slew of new products including a brand new Galaxy Note 4 and a surprise device called Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note 4 will be the true successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 3 and it will go on sale with a number of high-powered features starting in mid-October. The Galaxy Note Edge, a device that shares a lot in common with the Galaxy Note 4, will also deliver some explosive specs including a bent display.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note Edge is a new product line and one that should be intriguing to those that are looking to upgrade to a high-end smartphone. The new Galaxy Note Edge features a Quad HD resolution, a 2.7 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung TouchWiz, 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, massive battery, and a thin 8.3mm frame. It also comes with an S Pen stylus and a display unlike any other.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Note Edge is an intriguing device though it’s not without its problems. At the event, Samsung failed to mention anything about the Galaxy Note Edge release date or the Galaxy Note Edge price in the U.S. leaving retailers and others to fill in the blanks ahead of its official announcement. We’ve seen a ton of info flow out in recent weeks, info that’s helped to paint a broad picture for those interested in the Galaxy Note Edge release date.

Today, we want to lay out what we expect from the Galaxy Note Edge release date in the United States. The U.S. is a key market for Samsung and it’s a market that could be among the first to get Samsung’s brand new flagship.

Here is what we expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date in the United States.

Galaxy Note Edge Release Date This Year

First, we’re still expecting a Galaxy Note Edge release date at some point later this year. When Samsung first announced the Galaxy Note Edge, it said that it would be arriving later on this year, at least in the United States. T-Mobile’s splash page for the device says that it will be out this fall while the AT&T Galaxy Note Edge splash page says that it’s “coming soon.” A Galaxy Note Edge sign up page also says that it’s coming soon.

Galaxy-Note-Edge

While the Galaxy Note Edge release date might not be around the corner or “coming soon” as carriers suggest (coming soon is carrier jargon for we’ll tell you when we know for sure), we’re still expecting the Galaxy Note Edge to arrive in the United States sometime this year. We haven’t heard anything about delays, we’ve seen it pass through the FCC for other regions, and it’s clear that the U.S. is a priority for Samsung in its fight against the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Unless Samsung runs into some major production issues ahead of the holidays, you should expect a Galaxy Note Edge release date to hit the U.S. before the end of the year. Samsung would not have committed to a “later this year” release date if it couldn’t meet that deadline.

U.S. Release Date Among First

Last week, Samsung unexpectedly revealed some new Galaxy Note Edge release date information. The company now says that Galaxy Note Edge release date in Canada will take place in 2015. The company did not offer any specific dates.

It did, however, mention that the country would be behind the U.S. Galaxy Note Edge release date. It’s not clear what that means for the U.S. though it does hint at a possible early U.S. Galaxy Note Edge release date.

U.S. carriers were among the first to confirm its arrival and as we’ve pointed out, they’re promoting the Galaxy Note Edge on their websites. The U.S. appears to be a focus here so we’re expecting the Galaxy Note Edge release date in the U.S., and perhaps Korea, to be among the first to arrive on the scene later this year.

Galaxy Note Edge Release Date Before December

We still don’t have any firm Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release dates for the U.S., or anywhere else for that matter, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t make an educated guess.

Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days on the U.S. calendar and it’s a date that kicks off the holiday shopping season. Black Friday falls on November 28th in 2014 and we expect at least one Galaxy Note Edge release to take place before this date arrives.

Galaxy-Note-Edge-3

Samsung and companies like Apple go to great lengths to ensure that their products are on sale during those crucial days and weeks after Black Friday. Samsung’s Galaxy Note series is always pushed live ahead of Black Friday and Apple always has its new iPhone and iPad on sale ahead of that date. We’re expecting a similar path for the Galaxy Note Edge.

If Samsung waits too long to release the Galaxy Note Edge, it runs the risk of missing out on key holiday sales in the United States. And with an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus out on the market, competition for the Galaxy Note Edge is fierce. At the very worst, we could see a few Galaxy Note Edge release dates emerging in early December but we have a feeling that the Galaxy Note Edge release will fall in November.

Galaxy Note Edge Release Dates Close to Each Other

When U.S. carriers announce their Galaxy Note Edge release date plans, we expect them to announce release dates that are in close proximity to one another. We would not be surprised if they shared a release date like the October 17th release for the Galaxy Note 4.

In the past few years, we’ve seen carriers shape up when it comes to Samsung release dates. In the past, we used to see carriers launch weeks late. Now, they all cluster around one another so as not to offer any advantages to their rivals.

We’re expecting similar Galaxy Note Edge release dates in the United States.

Galaxy Note Edge Pre-Orders

We’re also expecting Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders ahead of the Galaxy Note Edge release date in the U.S. Verizon’s website alluded to upcoming pre-orders for both the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge and the carrier recently started taking Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders ahead of its Galaxy Note 4 release date in October. We’re expecting the Galaxy Note Edge to be next, not just at Verizon, but across carriers.

Galaxy-Note-Edge-1

Flagship devices always go up for pre-order ahead of their release dates. It always happens. And don’t expect anything different from the Galaxy Note Edge release in the U.S. Look for carriers to confirm pre-orders when they confirm the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date and the elusive Galaxy Note Edge price point.

No Smaller Carriers

We’re expecting the Galaxy Note Edge release to stick to the four major carriers in the United States. U.S. Cellular is a possibility though given that it has yet to announce any Galaxy Note Edge details weeks after the initial confirmation, the chances are very slim. At the very least, expect the device to remain on the powerful carriers in the United States. Smaller carriers don’t carry the Galaxy Note series and we don’t see them taking a risk on a niche device like the Edge.

Tons of Retail Options

In addition to carrier locations, you’ll be able to buy the Galaxy Note Edge at a number of retail locations. Samsung says that it will be sold at Best Buy, Target, Sam’s Club, RadioShack, Amazon, Walmart, and Costco.

Galaxy Note Edge Price

We still don’t know how much the Galaxy Note Edge will cost in the United States but it’s safe to expect a premium price point for Samsung’s high-end Galaxy Note.

Note4-edge-main

The Galaxy Note 4, a device that comes with a flat screen, will cost $299.99 on-contract in the U.S. and almost $850 off-contract at some carriers (AT&T). The Galaxy Note Edge and its curved screen are both premium and we’re expecting a bigger price tag. At this point, we would not be surprised if it commanded a price tag between $350-$450 on-contract and much steeper off-contract.

We’re already seeing Galaxy Note Edge price details point to an expensive price point. We’re expecting the Galaxy Note Edge to follow suit.

Galaxy Note Edge Deals

Expect there to be Galaxy Note Edge deals available once the release date arrives. This is a premium device and we have a feeling U.S. carriers will try and maximize its price point but we could see Walmart and Amazon offer day one deals for the Galaxy Note Edge on release day. They almost always offer deals even on flagship models.

Limited Accessories

We’re expecting a limited amount of Galaxy Note Edge accessories on release day. This is a new product with a brand new screen so it’s something that could pose problems for manufacturers that are used to producing accessories for products that typically feature flat screens. Samsung should have some accessories out and we’ll likely see some from top manufacturers like Spigen but we wouldn’t be surprised if accessories were a little light when this phone is released.

Blah, blah, blah… humans had the technology to send people to the moon in the late 1960’s, but in 2014 they can’t produce a cell phone battery that can last more than one day with heavy use, and they have trouble mass producing a curved display. We live in the 21st century, you’d think human technology wouldn’t be so stupid… blah, blah, blah.

No joke Denise. I have lost all respect for the writers at GottaBeMobile. What a joke, and a scam to get people to view their website. Fail your fans and they will leave, just like I am now.

From what I have been told the edge is supposed to be released on November 7th. We are not sure at what carriers though. The only reason the edge hasn’t been released earlier is because the FCC hasn’t approved it. The release date keeps getting pushed further and further back!
