Published

on

With the month of September now coming to a close, we want to take a look at the most exciting Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat update information including details regarding Samsung’s Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates and Samsung Galaxy Android L updates that are expected to arrive in just a few short months.

The month of September has been an extremely busy month for Android 4.4 KitKat. The update, which first started rolling out last November, has made considerable progress in the build up to Google’s Android L release. In particular, Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat updates have been moving at a fast pace as Samsung works to get its new, and aging, devices upgraded with its latest software.

Samsung’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat update remains extremely active, nine months after it first started rolling out. In the past four weeks, we’ve seen tons and tons of details and updates pour out of Samsung’s servers delivering key upgrades to owners of the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2, and others. We’ve also seen Android 4.4.2 KitKat get replaced by something newer.

Earlier this month, after a bit of a wait, Samsung started rolling out its Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. Android 4.4.4 KitKat first started rolling out back in June and it’s an update that’s aimed at alleviating Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems that popped up in the days, weeks and months after its initial release. Its a key update for Android smartphone and tablet owners including those who are in possession of Galaxy branded devices.

We’ve seen a ton of Android 4.4.4 KitKat movement in recent weeks and Samsung’s new Android 4.4 KitKat roll out is now available to select devices in regions around the world. It’s a two-pronged attack that should have most devices prepared for the Android L release that’s currently in the cross hairs of many Samsung Galaxy users.

With this amount of information swirling around, it’s probably been hard to track down all of the details as we’ve moved across the last 27 days. Here, we make things easy and take a look at the most exciting Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat update details to emerge for popular Samsung smartphones over the last month.

Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Roll Out Starts Anew

Earlier this year, Samsung confirmed that it would be rolling out Android 4.4 to its Galaxy S3 LTE but that it would not be rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update to the GT-I9300.

In May, Samsung started rolling out the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to users in the United States and the update landed for all major carriers except T-Mobile. That update remains missing though in September, Galaxy S3 users finally got the exciting Android 4.4 KitKat news they had been waiting for.

Earlier this month, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update started rolling out in Korea. The update arrived nearly a year after the device was upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and about four months after the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update hit the United States.

The Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is hitting the SHV-E210, a specific variant in Korea and it’s also hitting the GT-i9305N Galaxy S3, an LTE model found in Nordic countries.

While the update is not widespread, this is still an exciting development for owners of the Galaxy S3 LTE. Samsung’s roll outs typically start slow before they push out across devices and across different countries so we could see Samsung push Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates to owners in the U.S. and other parts of the globe.

Surely, Samsung will not stop at these two updates and so those stuck on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or dealing with Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems should be excited about what the future holds.

The Galaxy S3 may not get Android L but Android 4.4.4 KitKat is the next best thing.

Missing Android 4.4 KitKat Updates Making Progress

There are still a ton of devices running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean though it looks like that might change in the next couple of weeks as release date information has emerged throughout the month.

Slowly but surely, we’ve seen Samsung push out its lagging Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates. This past week, we discovered a number of brand new details regarding upcoming Samsung Galaxy S and Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.4 KitKat update releases. Most carriers don’t disclose their plans ahead of time which makes these carrier-specific Android updates important for users around the world.

As we’ve noted many times, Australian carriers are very forth coming with information. We pass along their information in an effort to paint a broad picture for Samsung Galaxy device owners. Aussie carriers are typically on the back end when it comes to release timing, so their timing helps to put other updates into perspective.

This past weeks, we saw a flurry of Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat details emerge. And the exciting part is, all of the details are good. Aussie carriers are planning to push a number of missing Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 mini, and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates in October, updates that will finally take these devices up from Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

This bodes well for devices in other parts of the world that are lagging behind because it’s clear that Samsung has delivered a number of new Android 4.4 KitKat builds for testing. Of course, everything depends on just that, the testing process. We’ve seen several of these updates miss their target dates again and again and we’re hopeful that we’ll see these updates press on in October ahead of Android L.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat Alive & Well in U.S.

The Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat update push is starting to pick up steam outside of the United States though the U.S. is still very much the leader. In September we saw the update hit a number of Galaxy S and Galaxy Note models including:

AT&T and U.S. Cellular have yet to join the fun though we believe that there’s a very good chance that we’ll see some movement from all of these carriers in the month of October.

New Android 4.4.4 KitKat Release Details & Leaks

We don’t often see major Android updates leak though we recently saw one emerge for the U.S.

Earlier this month, the Sprint Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update leaked. It may not be the final build but we’re hearing that it’s a release test candidate. What this means is that there’s a slight chance that it could become the final build for Sprint’s Galaxy S5.

Given that this is not an official release over Sprint’s servers, users will want to proceed at their own risk as it could have unintended effects on the stability of your device. Those that aren’t interested in getting Android 4.4.4 KitKat and its features ahead of the public release should simply sit back and wait because the official Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat release for Sprint, and perhaps other carriers, should be close.

It’s an exciting time to be a Galaxy S5 user, especially if you’re dealing with bugs. Android 4.4.4 KitKat should squash many of the issues found in Samsung’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

Galaxy Note 4 & Galaxy Note Edge Poised to Deliver Android 4.4.4 KitKat

Earlier this month, Samsung announced two new smartphones in the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge. Both devices are set for arrival later this year and both will be running Android 4.4.4 KitKat stock. This is incredibly exciting because it means that you will not have to wait for Samsung to deliver these crucial bug fixes. Same goes for the Galaxy Alpha which arrived today on AT&T.

Samsung Galaxy Android L Release Rumored

A rumor from SamMobile puts Samsung’s first Android L updates in November or December. This is exciting because it’s the first we’ve heard of Samsung’s Android L update release plans. The company, to this day, remains silent about what it has in store for Galaxy users in the future.

Note-4-Design

The first two Android L updates are rumored to be for the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 though we expect a number of Android L updates to eventually roll out to older devices. Here’s a list of devices we expect will get Android L:

  • Galaxy S5
  • Galaxy S5 mini
  • Galaxy S5 Active
  • Galaxy S4
  • Galaxy S4 Active
  • Galaxy Note 4
  • Galaxy Note Edge
  • Galaxy Note 3
  • Galaxy Note 3 Neo
  • Galaxy Alpha

These are exciting times for Samsung Galaxy users and we expect October, November and December to be just as thrilling for those in the Samsung Galaxy community.
