A slew of new Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat update and Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat update details have been confirmed as Samsung continues its onslaught of new KitKat updates ahead of the Android L release later this year.

For many months now, Samsung has been delivering Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates to select devices in the United States and abroad. In the midst of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat roll out, we’ve also seen the company start pushing out Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates. We’ve seen the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update start to push out. We’ve seen the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update roll out. We’ve seen the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 make significant progress. And we’ve even seen a Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat roll out begin.

As we’ve moved deeper into the year, Samsung’s Android 4.4 KitKat update roll out has begun to heat up and over the past few days, we’ve seen a flurry of new Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat update details confirmed for an array of Samsung Galaxy branded smartphones and tablets. Today, we want to share everything we’ve spotted.

First and foremost, thanks to Samsung, we now know that the Sprint Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update will arrive at some point. Problem is, we still don’t know when, and neither does Sprint. Confused Galaxy S5 users have taken to Sprint’s community pages to inquire about Android 4.4.4 KitKat and they’ve been met with vague responses. The roll out should be close but thus far, we haven’t seen it push out.

What’s interesting is that Samsung’s also confirmed several other Sprint Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates that seemingly have yet to roll out. Support pages list both a Galaxy Tab 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update and a Galaxy Mega Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. We haven’t been able to track down either of these updates and so it looks like Samsung may have jumped the gun on three Sprint roll outs. At the very least, it looks like Samsung plans to make these updates available.

Samsung’s Android 4.4.4 KitKat update just started rolling out to the Galaxy S3 though it will only hit LTE models. Earlier this year, Samsung confirmed plans to leave the international Galaxy S3 without LTE (GT-I9300) on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. While Android 4.4.4 KitKat will never arrive officially, developers have been able to port Android 4.4.4 over to the aging former flagship.

Thanks to the hard work from developers on XDA-Developers, an unofficial Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is now available to owners of the GT-I9300. The developers claim that it’s fairly stable though we only recommend it to Galaxy S3 owners that are desperate for Android 4.4.4 KitKat and to those with experience installing unofficial software. There’s always a chance it could have unintended results.

In addition to those details, we’ve seen a flood of Android 4.4 KitKat details spill out of Australian carrier Telstra in the past few days as it works to upgrade its top devices ahead of Android L.

Australian carriers are very forthcoming about Android update information and we pass along their information in an effort to paint a broad picture for Samsung Galaxy device owners around the world. Typically, Aussie carriers are on the back end when it comes to release timing, something to keep in mind as we discuss these brand new Android 4.4 KitKat update details.

In a recent update to its Android update schedule, Telstra reveals a number of key Android 4.4 KitKat update details, details that help to paint a broad picture for its users, other Aussie users, and Galaxy device owners around the globe. First, it says that it plans to get its long awaited Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update out in just a few short days. Testing is expected to be completed soon with a roll out estimated to arrive on October 20th.

The carrier’s other Android 4.4 KitKat updates are plagued with issues, however. The carrier says that its Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update won’t be rolling out until November, or, a year after it first hit Google’s Nexus devices. The company’s Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is being scheduled though it could roll out in November as well.

Telstra says that an issue has been discovered inside its Galaxy S4 Cat 4 Android 4.4 KitKat update and that its release has been delayed indefinitely while the company and Samsung work out the kinks. This is the same problem that’s facing owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. Its update is also now delayed due to issues.

A Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 4.4 KitKat update bug fixer is also delayed and is now scheduled for early November. It’s not clear what it will have on board though it could mirror some of the other Galaxy S5 bug fixers we’ve seen in the past couple of months. If it rolls out, it could push close to the arrival of the Android L update.

A rumor from SamMobile puts Samsung’s first Android L updates in November or December. This is exciting because it’s the first we’ve heard of Samsung’s Android L update release plans. The company, to this day, remains silent about what it has in store for Galaxy users in the future.

The first two Android L updates are rumored to be for the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5 though we expect a number of Android L updates to eventually roll out to older devices. Here’s a list of devices we expect will get Android L:

  • Galaxy S5
  • Galaxy S5 mini
  • Galaxy S5 Active
  • Galaxy S4
  • Galaxy S4 Active
  • Galaxy Note 4
  • Galaxy Note Edge
  • Galaxy Note 3
  • Galaxy Note 3 Neo
  • Galaxy Alpha
