The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date continues to pick up speed as the device with the curved display pushes towards a release in a number of different regions later this year.
In early September Samsung took the stage at its Unpacked event and announced a slew of new products including two new Galaxy Note models dubbed Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note Edge will be the company’s high-end Galaxy Note model and a device that’s expected to join the Galaxy Note 4 in select regions before the end of the year.
As we move further and further away from the Galaxy Note Edge launch date, we’re finally starting to see the release date take shape as Samsung and its carrier partners fill in the necessary blanks for interested consumers. Yesterday, we saw a ton of new Galaxy Note Edge release date details emerge and today, we’ve got a read on a new release in a brand new region.
Yesterday, Samsung confirmed a Galaxy Note Edge release for India. The company did not specify any specific details only confirming a release before the end of the year in the one the world’s biggest markets. India joined U.S., UK, China, Japan, Australia, Canada, and Korea as select markets set to get the Galaxy Note Edge.
Today, we can add one more region to the list. Russian site Hi-Tech.Mail.Ru confirms Samsung’s plans to release the Galaxy Note Edge in Russia before the end of the year. The website, which has been accurate with information in the past, claims that the company will release the Galaxy Note Edge in November or December, specific date unknown.
As is the case with most high-end Russian smartphones, the Galaxy Note Edge is going to be extremely expensive. The Galaxy Note Edge will cost 49,990 rubles which is the equivalent to $1221 in the United States. This should have no barring on the Galaxy Note Edge price in the United States as smartphone prices in Russia, again, tend to be much higher.
While we still don’t have any concrete information, the U.S. Galaxy Note Edge release date continues to creep closer as well. The AT&T and T-Mobile Galaxy Note Edge models have both passed through the FCC, a sign that the U.S. release is making progress behind the scenes. The Sprint and Verizon Galaxy Note Edge variants still have to receive their proper certifications before Samsung can announce specific release details and it’s not clear when that might happen.
Other regions like the UK and Canada will not get the Galaxy Note Edge at launch. Samsung Canada recently confirmed a Galaxy Note Edge release for 2015 while Samsung UK remains tight lipped about its release. UK based retailers have told consumers to prepare for a delayed release though it’s not clear how long the delay might last.
Samsung also now says that the Galaxy Note Edge release in Australia has been pushed to November 12th for unspecified reasons. The device was originally scheduled to arrive on November 5th.
The new Galaxy Note Edge is a concept phone but one that should be intriguing to those that are looking to upgrade to a high-end smartphone. Galaxy Note Edge specs include a Quad HD resolution, a 2.7 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung TouchWiz, 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, massive battery, and a thin 8.3mm frame. It also comes with an S Pen stylus.
It’s still not clear how much the Galaxy Note Edge price will be though we expect those details to arrive once Samsung and its carrier partners have a clear grasp on the release date.
