The Nexus 9 release starts in full on the Google Play Store with orders available today, shipping in 1-2 business days. The new Nexus 9 tablet starts at $399 with a 8.9-inch display and Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Currently the Google Play Store only offers the Nexus 9 in WiFi models, with the LTE Nexus 9 release listed as coming soon. The Nexus 9 is available in three color options, but Indigo Black and Lunar White are the only models available now. Shoppers can choose between 16GB and 32GB versions with a $479 price for the extra storage.

You can order the Nexus 9 through the Google Play Store now, with delivery this week. The various models are selling quickly with some colors and configurations switching from In Stock to out of stock as we checked through the available Nexus 9 models.

Visit the Google Play Store to buy a Nexus 9 today while they are in stock. You can watch our Nexus 9 hands on and impressions video below to see what this new Nexus tablet offers.

The Nexus 9 release arrives with a smoother start than the Nexus 6 release last week which left many potential shoppers without any chance to buy the new Nexus smartphone and a very sour taste in Gotta Be Mobile Editor Adam Mills’ mouth. Mills called the Nexus 6 release a “joke” for the poor execution from Google. There is cautious optimism that the Nexus 9 release continues smoother than Google’s release plans in late October.

Here is a closer look at the Nexus 9 specs, which include a high-resolution display, front facing speakers and the dimensions;

  • 8.9-inch 2048×1536 Full HD display (4:3 aspect ratio, and Gorilla Glass 3)
  • NVIDIA Tegra K1 Processor with 2GB of RAM (64-bit)
  • 16/32GB storage configurations (32GB 4G LTE coming later)
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop (first device with Android 5.0)
  • 8 Megapixel OIS Rear and 1.6 MP Front Camera
  • Brushed Aluminum frame, soft touch matte design
  • Dual HTC Boomsound front facing speakers
  • 6,700 mAh battery
  • White, Black, and Sand color options
  • 153.68mm x 228.25mm x 7.95mm and only 420 grams

After using the Nexus 9 briefly, Gotta Be Mobile writer Cory Gunther shared his early impressions writing, “The Nexus 9 is a premium tablet, made for any and all users to fully enjoy. The screen is stunning and just the right size, the interface is friendly and lively, and the speakers boom with excellent sound. “

The Google Play Store is not the only place to buy the Nexus 9, but it is out of stock on Amazon and other retailers are only taking pre-orders at this time.

Nexus 9 accessories include a keyboard case and the HTC Magic case which covers the front of the Nexus 9 and then turns into a stand when you need to use it. These are on sale at Amazon, but now out of stock. This includes the HTC Magic Cover for $39.99 and the HTC Keyboard Folio for $129. Google lists the accessories as coming soon on the Google Play Store.
