Nexus 6 Release Date Comes Into Focus

Published

on

Since first being announced back on October 15th the Nexus 6 release date has been quite the mystery, but this week all the details and release information is finally starting to emerge. Yesterday a few new details arrived thanks to some leaked documents, but this morning two carriers have confirmed the Nexus 6 release.

Until today we’ve had no solid release date details, but we now have good news for potential buyers as both Sprint and AT&T have made formal announcements, on top of T-Mobile’s confirmation that the Nexus 6 will be available in stores and online starting tomorrow, November 12th.

The Nexus 6 went up for pre-order from Google on October 29th as promised, but sold out in a few minutes. Each Wednesday Google’s promised more stock will be available on the Play Store for buyers to try and order, but you won’t have to wait for the Play Store, as AT&T and Sprint have joined T-Mobile in releasing the Nexus 6 this week. All the details can be found below.

Nexus6-1

The Nexus 6 is Google’s brand new flagship smartphone running a completely redesigned and improved Android 5.0 Lollipop software update, and it has a huge 5.96-inch Quad-HD display. It’s Google’s boldest smartphone release yet, and you’ll finally be able to get your hands on one starting tomorrow, if you’re lucky.

This year the new Nexus 6 will finally be available on all five major carriers in the United States. This is the biggest launch of any Nexus device to date, and it’s good news for consumers. Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular and even Verizon Wireless will have the phone.

Nexus 6 on T-Mobile

On October 15th the only carrier to confirm anything about the Nexus 6 was T-Mobile. Stating they’ll have both the Nexus 6 and new Nexus 9 tablet in stores and online starting November 12th. That’s tomorrow, the official Nexus 6 release date.

The T-Mobile Nexus 6 will be available in 32GB only, in select stores across the United States starting tomorrow, with the 64GB option only being available for buyers to order online. We’re not sure how much stock will be available, or how long orders will last before they get backordered, you buyers should be ready to hit “Pay Now” come tomorrow morning.

Nexus 6 on AT&T

AT&T finally joined in this morning, confirming that Nexus 6 pre-orders start tomorrow, November 12th. However, these are only pre-orders and are available online and in select stores, and they’ve yet to confirm the actual release date. This is good news for those on AT&T even if an actual date hasn’t been announced.

The AT&T Nexus 6 will be $249 with a new 2-year contract, but no where does it state whether that is the 32 or 64GB version. Most likely it is only the 32GB model like both T-Mobile and Sprint will be offering. We have a feeling the 64GB model won’t be as easy to find. The Nexus 6 from AT&T will be yours for $0 down with AT&T Next for $22.77 a month for 24 months with Next 24, or a bit more for 18 month plans, as well as $682.99 outright with no contract.

Once AT&T reveals the actual release date, and which models and color options will be available we’ll update with all the information for potential buyers.

Nexus 6 on Sprint

Yesterday some news leaked regarding the Sprint Nexus 6 release date, and that’s been officially confirmed this morning by Sprint themselves. The carrier announced the Nexus 6 will be released on November 14th, this Friday. We’re assuming pre-orders may go live tomorrow, but either way the phone will be available online, in store, and by phone with Sprint on November 14th.

Nexus6

Sprint has priced the Nexus 6 at $0 down with EasyPay for $29 for 24 months, a few dollars more than AT&T. Those who buy it outright with no contract can expect to pay $696, and again, this is for the 32GB Midnight Blue option. The release didn’t mention the 64GB version, and yesterdays leak confirmed Sprint will not offer the Cloud White Nexus 6.

Verizon & US Cellular

Sadly Verizon Wireless and US Cellular have yet to confirm anything at all regarding the Nexus 6. That being said, with all carriers sending out information today we’re expecting news extremely soon. Last week Google updated the Play Store confirming Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and US Cellular will all have the Nexus 6 “by the end of November” and left Verizon out of that list.

It’s possible the Verizon Nexus 6 release don’t won’t be until December, but we’re hoping that isn’t the case, and will update the moment any new details surface regarding these last two carriers.

Nexus-family

Last but not least, the Nexus 6 is a global device and actually works on all carriers. Meaning one from T-Mobile or the Google Play Store should work for AT&T or Verizon, and we’ve tested that with our own review unit and it worked with both an AT&T sim, and a Verizon 4G LTE sim card. So get it wherever you can, and we’ll keep you posted with more details as they arrive.
