5 Reasons to Update on iOS 8.1.1 Release Day

Published

on

Apple’s iOS 8.1.1 release date for iPhone and iPad hasn’t been announced but a release could come at any time. With that in mind, iPhone and iPad users should start preparing for the iOS 8.1.1 release date and today we want to walk you through some reasons why you might want to install the iOS 8.1.1 release when it arrives.

Back in September, Apple released its iOS 8.1 update into the beta program for developers. For several weeks, Apple and its developers tested the update in order to ensure a smooth public release. In mid-October, after a short stint in beta, Apple released the iOS 8.1 update to the public and it stands as the company’s current version of iOS.

While the iOS 8.1 update did fix some of the bigger iOS 8 problems affecting iPhone and iPad users, the iOS 8.1 update failed to tackle all of the annoying problems that emerged with September’s iOS 8.0 update. This has left many iPhone and iPad users around the world looking for some kind of relief in the form of a permanent fix.

We’re still not sure when that relief will arrive (we’ve offered some potential fixes to help in the meantime) but it’s looking like Apple’s next iOS 8 upgrade, iOS 8.1.1, could be that update.

Earlier this month, surprised us all when it released the iOS 8.1.1 update into its beta program. The move was interesting given that the company rarely releases small bug fixes into beta. iOS 8.1.1 is confirmed to have a number of bug fixes on board making it an important and highly anticipated iOS 8 update for iPhone and iPad users on iOS 8.1 and below.

With an iOS 8.1.1 release confirmed, now is the perfect time to make your final preparations for the iOS 8.1.1 release date itself. There’s reason to be excited about the iOS 8.1.1 release and as we’ll point out, some reasons why you should install the iOS 8.1.1 update right off the bat. Here, we take a look at some reasons why you iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users might want to think about installing the iOS 8.1.1 update the day that it comes out.

You’re Running iOS 8.1.1 Beta

If you are running iOS 8.1.1 beta, we highly recommend moving up to the public release of the software, if only to get the upgrade out of the way. It also should bring added stability to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. You’re already on Apple’s new iOS 8 update so there’s no sense in sticking around on beta software. Get the installation process over with and get the public version of the iOS 8.1.1 installed on your phone.

We’re still not sure how many iOS 8.1.1 betas Apple is going to release to developers but it doesn’t matter. Beta 1, Beta 2, whatever, get off of it on the first day of availability.

You’re Dealing With iOS 8 Problems

iOS 8 problems continue to plague iPhone and iPad users. iOS 8.1 was sent out to fix many of these problems and while it did, it also brought some problems of its own. iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users in particular continue to deal with an assortment of iOS 8 issues. iOS 8 problems aren’t limited to the new iPhones though. We’ve spoken to plenty of other users as well.

iOS 8.1.1 is a bug fix update, plain and simple. While we don’t have a full change log, we know that the update is going to geared towards iPhone and iPad users currently experiencing issues on iOS 8.1 and below. It’s probably not going to solve every single iOS 8 problem but there is a good chance it’s going to tackle a number of them. So, if you’re having problems in iOS 8.1, iOS 8.0.2 or iOS 8.0, it’s probably worth a download on day one.

Not only is it coming with bug fixes on board, it’s going to have the added benefit of the beta program. The beta is meant to isolate issues ahead of a public release so we’re expecting a very stable experience out of iOS 8.1.1.

You Want Better Performance

The iOS 8.1.1 beta change log notes that it will come with performance enhancements for the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4s. These devices represent the oldest devices on iOS 8.1. Apple typically doesn’t make promises that it can’t keep so if you’re an iPad 2 or iPhone 4s user struggling on iOS 8.1 or below, iOS 8.1.1 is probably going to be worth updating to on day one.

Same goes for those of you on Apple’s other aging former flagships. We’ve heard from numerous iPhone 5 users that are experiencing iOS 8 performance problems and we’ve been experiencing some of our own. While it might not state it in the change log, iOS 8.1.1 has a chance to iron out performance issues on other devices as well. So if you own an older iPhone or iPad and Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, battery life, and overall speed are not up to par, think about installing iOS 8.1.1 on day one.

You’ve Prepared

If you’re prepared for the iOS 8.1.1 release date, go ahead and install it when it arrives. There are a number of steps that we think iPhone and iPad users should take ahead of its release date and if you’ve taken them all, there’s really nothing else you can do.

You Don’t Care About Jailbreaking & You Simply Want the Latest Software

If you don’t care about jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad, you might want to think about installing the iOS 8.1.1 update on the day that it arrives. iOS 8.1.1 is going to break the Pangu iOS 8 jailbreak which means that once iOS 8.1.1 is on board, you probably won’t be able to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad. It’s not clear if the developer team is working on an iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak or not.

Jailbreaking is not for everyone and many iPhone and iPad users simply want the latest software from Apple. If getting bumped up to the latest software sounds more appealing than going through the jailbreak process, you’re going to be alright updating to the iOS 8.1.1 update on its first day of availability. Whenever that is.

Damn my girl effin updated my iPhone to iOS 8.1.1 beta and this new Pangu jailbreak isn’t working on iOS 8.1.1. She says by accident “okay, accident my @ss”. I need to figure out how to downgrade back to iOS 8.1 so I can jailbreak again and get the bigU Movies app from Cydia from xsellize repo or insanelyi repo. I was just using the bigU Movies app yesterday and I already downloaded the movies Interstellar, Nightcrawler, Ouija, John Wick, Fury, Dracula Untold, Annabelle, Gone Girl, The Equalizer, The Maze Runner, A Walk Among the Tombstones, No Good Deed and Guardians of the Galaxy. I planned to start watching them today and this happens. lmao, I can’t believe my girl did this crap to me. I guess I bite the bullet on this one. Once I jailbreak again she is not coming near my damn iPhone. lol
