Yesterday we learned that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update was headed to three more devices this week, and now one more can be added to the list. Google and its partners have been busy working on the Android 5.0 update, and those with Google Play Edition smartphones and tablets can expect it to arrive as soon as this week.

When it comes to getting Android updates there are a lot of moving parts. Manufacturers and carriers both have a say, and Google also gives technical approval for updates to arrive when it comes to Google Play Edition smartphones and tablets. It’s that, which has a few users waiting, and others getting the update today.

We’ll start with the Sony Z Ultra, as this is the latest news. According to AndroidCentral and a few other various sources the Sony Z Ultra Android 5.0 Lollipop update is rolling out as of late last night, and should be hitting all users massive smartphone in the next few days. Of course, this is for the Google Play Edition Z Ultra, and not the regular model sold internationally and from carriers.

The Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition is getting a large nearly 400MB update that will deliver the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update to users. Along with a new look and feel, improved features and lockscreen, and much more. Smart Lock, Ambient Display notifications on the lockscreen and more from the Nexus 6 will all be included.

Then of course we have additional details regarding the delayed, and then delayed again HTC One and HTC One M8 Google Play Edition updates. Those were expected to see it last week, then yesterday, and now we’re simply waiting on Google to give HTC approval and let the update begin. HTC confirmed on Twitter the update is ready and waiting, and once Google gives them “TA” (technical approval) the update should start the same day.

HTC is expecting the One and One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop update to start rolling out for Google Play Edition devices “soon” and that could be as soon as this evening or early tomorrow. Once Google says go, it will start rolling out to all users.

Then the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition tablet is also getting Android 5.0 Lollipop this week, with news yesterday surfacing that multiple owners receive it over the weekend. LG has yet to make an announcement, but if you have the LG G Pad GPe you’ll want to head into settings and check for updates right now.

At this point that is at least four different devices all getting Android 5.0 Lollipop either this week, or in the immediate future. We’ve yet to hear anything about the Moto G Google Play Edition, or the Galaxy S4 GPe handset, but those updates will likely follow closely behind.

Google’s latest update to the Android operating system isn’t rolling out as fast as previous releases, but slowly and surely more users are seeing it start to arrive. Android 4.4 KitKat hit most Google Play Edition devices within 2-3 weeks of the release, but it’s taking about a month this time around.

Again, we’ve confirmed Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the Google Play Edition HTC One, One M8, LG G Pad 8.3 Tablet, Sony Z Ultra, and more should be coming extremely soon. Head to settings > about phone (or tablet) > check for updates and see if Lollipop is waiting for you.
