Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update Hits U.S.

It’s not the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update but a new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update has hit the United States ahead of Lollipop delivering fixes and enhancements to users on Verizon.

Early this year, Samsung started rolling out its Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to Galaxy devices. That roll out has since been joined by the Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4.4 KitKat update release, a release that recently hit several devices inside the United States. Samsung remains focused on Android 4.4 KitKat despite the arrival of Android 5.0 Lollipop and the company continues to push out Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates in the United States ahead of Android 5.0’s release.

The Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is the latest Android 4.4.4 KitKat upgrade to hit the United States and as expected, the software delivers a number of changes to owners of the popular smartphone. It doesn’t come with an assortment of new features like Lollipop but Galaxy Note 3 users will still be interested in what this prelude to Lollipop has to offer.

Verizon’s change log lists the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update with some massive changes including improvements to 4G data connectivity, improvements to voice calling, fixes for Bluetooth and SMS, a fix for a VPN disconnect issue, the addition of Samsung’s Knox 2.0 security service, Kids Mode, and various other changes and improvements that should help to prepare the device ahead of its inevitable Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade. The update is similar to the one that just rolled out at AT&T.

The carrier tends to roll out its Android updates in stages though given the size of this update, it’s possible that a vast majority of users will get the update within the first couple of days of its release. Those who are interested in picking up Android 4.4.4 KitKat on the Galaxy Note 3 will want to take a look inside the device’s settings to see if the update is available. If it is, the download sequence will prompt and the update process will begin. This process can take 15 minutes or more so Galaxy Note 3 users will want to set aside some time to get the upgrade up and running.

Verizon’s Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update follows in the footsteps of several others including AT&T’s Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.4 update, an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update that delivers bug fixes and features of its own, and a T-Mobile Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. That update delivered Android 4.4.4 KitKat, IPv6 improvements, and a new Download Booster.

At the tail end of last month, Sprint also rolled out a Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.4 KitKat update that should help to improve that device ahead of its rumored, but inevitable, update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Samsung continues to push out Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates to its Galaxy devices but the focus of Galaxy smartphone and tablet users has shifted to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Android 5.0 Lollipop is a massive change up from Android 4.4 KitKat and it’s all but confirmed for several Galaxy devices thanks to a series of rumors and leaks.

While Samsung itself remains silent about Android 5.0 Lollipop updates, we’ve seen a number of details point to potential Samsung Galaxy Android 5.0 details. The Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop updates are all but confirmed thanks to the arrival of early details including new details from U.S. and international carriers.

French carrier SFR recently confirmed Android 5.0 Lollipop details for Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 owners and Sprint’s confirmed to have the Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update in testing. The Galaxy S5 Lollipop release is expected to come in December and it will be followed by updates for the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3.
