NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet

The next best tablet available in 2014 is probably a device many aren't too familiar with, and that is the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet. NVIDIA is popular in the desktop space for making graphics cards, but they're slowly getting more popular in mobile. The NVIDIA Shield tablet is probably the best price/performance tablet on our list, and nearly matches the Nexus 9, but costs much less.

The NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet comes with an 8-inch 1080p HD display, a similar NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor as the new Nexus 9, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage as well as micro-SD support, 5 megapixel front and rear cameras, and even dual front facing speakers. They have a stylus, a game controller you can buy for $59, to link the SHIELD Tablet to your PC, and much more. All of this is much cheaper than the Nexus 9, even though you're getting a similar device.

The SHIELD Tablet is also one of the first tablets that has already been updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop, which is a huge plus.
