7 Phones You Shouldn’t Buy Right Now (2014)

iPhone 4s

Apple no longer sells the iPhone 4s on the Apple Store but that doesn't mean that you can't find it in stores or online. It's still widely available and marketed as a budget option. It's also a device that we don't think you should buy now or at any point in the future unless you really, truly don't have any other options.

The iPhone 4s was recently upgraded to iOS 8 but that could be the end of the road for a device that was released in 2011. Apple tends to keep devices updated for three years before kicking them to the curb (the iPad 2 is an exception) so we may not see another upgrade arrive for the iPhone 4s.

That's not the only reason it makes this list. It's also on here because the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s are both extremely cheap and both of these devices are better than the iPhone 4s. We recommend both of those over the iPhone 4s because of the hardware upgrades and due to the longevity.

So we should not buy three generation old phones. OK then, you talked me into it.

I couldn’t agree more. I bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 in December 2013. It is so slow! I can’t wait until my contact is up so I can replace it.

It’s completely frustrating that the manufacturers purposely leave updates to existing phones in the dust to encourage purchases of their newest generation of phones.

If a manufacturer ever begins to be as good about supporting existing phones as their newest phones, they will have my loyalty for life.

Just don’t buy Samsung. Their Touchwiz UI is so shitty. But phones like the Note 4 can run it smoothly but apparently the S5 is a no go. If your looking for a new phone get the HTC One M8 or M9 best phone I have ever had, and I have had the Oneplus One, Note 3, Blackberry Z10, Nexus 5 and iPhone 5S.
