Galaxy S6 Specs Rumors Fail to Impress Fans

Published

on

The early Samsung Galaxy S6 specs rumors are not what fans were hoping for, with many complaints bubbling to the top of a thread discussing the latest Galaxy S6 rumors.

We are still months away from the Galaxy S6 release date, which will likely arrive in March or April, but leaks are starting to show what we can expect from the new Samsung Galaxy S6. Although not every one should wait for the Galaxy S6 it is shaping up to deliver an upgrade of Galaxy Note 4 inspired features.

While it is early, there are plenty of Galaxy S6 Specs rumors that showcase what we could see Samsung announce at an Unpacked event in 2015.

The early reports suggest the Samsung Galaxy S6 will feature a ground-up redesign to put the spotlight back on the series. You can also count on a Quad HD Galaxy S6 display that uses a similar power efficient panel like the Galaxy Note 4. We’re also hearing about a possible jump in the screen size and a Galaxy S6 edge model as a possibility.

Over the last several weeks, leaks delivered an early look at potential Galaxy S6 specs collected on GSM Arena. It is still quite early, and you can count on a variation from these rumored Galaxy S6 specs when Samsung actually announces the device — but that doesn’t mean potential buyers following every Galaxy S6 leak are happy about them.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Specs (Rumored)

These are the rumored Galaxy S6 specs that have fans in a frenzy over a bigger, higher resolution screen.

  • Chipset: Exynos 7420, Quad Core 1.3GHz, 3GB RAM
  • Display: 5.5-inch, 2,560 x 1,440, 534 pixels per inch, Gorilla Glass 4
  • Internal Storage: 32GB
  • microSD Slot: Accommodates up to 128GB
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop, TouchWiz UI
  • Camera: 20MP rear, 5MP front facing
  • Micro USB v 3.0

It is still quite early, and there are conflicting rumors about the Galaxy S6 screen size, but not everyone is excited about the prospect of a bigger Galaxy S6.

On Reddit, Android users comment on the rumored Galaxy S6 specs, with Paraless delivering the obvious comparison to the Galaxy Note series. The user writes, “5.5” and 1440p… So basically like a Note.” Other top comments chimed in with similar complaints about increasing the Galaxy S6 screen size to the level of the Galaxy Note series, calling it “insanity.” One user goes so far to claim he’ll eat a can of cat food if the Galaxy S6 includes a 5.5-inch screen.

A Galaxy S4 owner complains about the rumored jump in size, in all caps, writing, “STOP MAKING IT BIGGER” while another user chimes in that the Galaxy S5 is, “already to[sic] big.”

Another common complaint is that Samsung is upgrading to a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, like on the Galaxy Note 4. One user writes, “And why is 1440p becoming a norm? Its[sic] a waste of battery.” and another chimes in to complain, “If Samsung social media people are here and reading our reactions, no one wants a huge screen and/or bad battery life just to have 1440p.”

Not all potential buyers are happy with the rumored Samsung Galaxy S6 specs.

Complaints about battery life due to a higher resolution screen are common, but the Galaxy Note 4 display with a 2,560 x 1,44o resolution is 14% more power efficient than the Galaxy Note 3 according to detailed lab tests and our own time with the Note 4 included very good battery life.

There is also a discussion over the possibility that the Galaxy S6 will not use the new Micro USB 3.1 standard with a reversible connector. Users discuss the merits of a new reversible cable with new features to the convenience of the current Micro USB cable that you can find almost anywhere when you need to charge your phone.

One user shares a sentiment we hear with each new phone release, writing, “Heh, Samsung’s S series became pretty much like Call of Duty at this point.” There is still a desire for a major leap in smartphone technology, but it’s not clear if folding displays and other features can bring that in 2015 or if we’ll need to keep waiting.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 release is likely in the first half of 2015, and we expect a major launch event and the arrival on all major U.S. carriers. You can check out more Galaxy S6 details in our early look at what you can expect from Samsung.
