Nexus 9 LTE Release Date Finally Arrives

Published

on

Google’s brand new Nexus 9 tablet has been available for just over a month since being released in early November, and until today we had no details regarding when a Nexus 9 LTE would finally arrive. Last month was our first solid set of details surrounding when the Nexus 9 LTE would be released, but earlier this month it was delayed.

Back in October Google announced the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player all with Android 5.0 Lollipop, and since then users have patiently been waiting to get their hands on all of the above. The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are available now in some regions, and now those who want a 4G LTE Nexus 9, it’s finally available for some.

When Google revealed the new Nexus 9 tablet, they confirmed three color options, two storage limits, and a 4G LTE variant would all be released. So far only the 16/32GB model in black and white are available from the Play Store, with no new details surrounding the Sand (gold) color option, and until today we’ve heard nothing of the LTE edition.

The first and only set of details  surrounding the Nexus 9 LTE release date came from T-Mobile, who originally said they’d offer the tablet on November 12th, then later pushed that date back to the first week of December.

Since then however, no other carriers or information has surfaced about this tablet, leaving many prospective buyers in the dark regarding when they could actually buy one. That all being said, today T-Mobile quietly released the Nexus 9 LTE for its network, offering it ahead of all others in the United States, and around the globe.

Google’s Nexus 9 tablet offers nearly everything buyers usually want in a tablet, and this is the best Nexus ever released. It has stunning specs, and now comes with T-Mobile 4G LTE connectivity for use wherever, whenever. Likely it will work on other carriers, but for now this is limited to only T-Mobile.

As expected, and for the same price Google revealed back in October, T-Mobile is asking $599 for the 32GB Nexus 9 LTE tablet in either black or white. Users can opt to pay for it outright at $599, or spend $24.99 a month for 24 months using one of T-Mobile’s monthly payment plans.

For those interested in Google’s new Nexus 9 LTE tablet, here’s a quick recap of the specs before you buy.

Nexus 9 Specs

  • NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with 2GB of RAM (64-bit)
  • 16/32GB storage configurations
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop (now Android 5.0.1)

So far it appears that the new Nexus 9 LTE is only available from T-Mobile, and only the online store. Meaning no other carriers have announced it, and it’s not available in T-Mobile stores. At least not yet.

This is the first chance for buyers to get the Nexus 9 LTE but most likely all major US carriers will offer it, just like the Nexus 6. This is also a sign that the Nexus 9 LTE release is finally here and it should soon be available from the Google Play Store, as well as HTC’s storefront for those interested.
