Zagg InvisibleShield Glass Review

Published

on

The Zagg InvisibleShield Glass screen protector for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is amazing. This thin, easy to apply iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus screen protector saved two iPhone screens and does not interfere with the use of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus screens.

Instead of visiting an Apple Store to use AppleCare+ or pay for an out of pocket iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus screen replacement, the [easyazon_link cloaking=”default” keywords=”Zagg InvisibleShield Glass” localization=”default” locale=”US” nofollow=”default” new_window=”default” tag=”gbm-ea-20″]Zagg InvisibleShield Glass[/easyazon_link] prevented any damage to our new iPhones, taking the impact and saving our devices from destruction.

Although initially skeptical about the benefit of a glass screen protector and wary of putting anything between my fingers and the iPhone 6 Plus screen, after spending a month using the InvisibleShield Glass screen protector it is clearly an essential iPhone accessory.

We give the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass a Gotta Be Mobile Editor’s Choice Award for the outstanding protection and easy installation that can make the difference between a broken iPhone and the need replace the screen protector. If you use a minimal iPhone case or no case at all, the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass should be the first thing you put on your new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. The Zagg InvisibleShield Glass is the best screen protectors I’ve used in over a decade of carrying gadgets.

Read the rest of our Zagg InvisibleShield Glass review to find out why this is one iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus accessory you can’t pass up.

Installation

Installing an iPhone 6 screen protector is normally a giant pain that easily results in bubbles or dust spots stuck underneath a thin sheet of plastic, even with careful installation. Installing a Zagg InvisibleShield Glass iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus screen protector is easier thanks to the solid glass design that adheres to the iPhone without the hassles associated with most screen protectors.

Align the screen protector on the iPhone, and let it sit on top of the device. press down in the center and watch as the two join and bubbles disappear. You’ll need to clean the iPhone well with the included cloth and wipe, but in all the process took roughly three minutes and the only sign of a bubble disappeared in a day. There is no spraying or squeegee needed.

Aligning the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass is pretty easy thanks to the home button and earpiece openings, but it is possible to get the iPhone 6 screen protector a little too much to the left or right and end up slightly off-center. This did not impact the protection levels, but it would be nice if it was easier to perfectly align the protector.

Use & Clarity

The Zagg InvisibleShield Glass doesn't change the touch or clarity of the iPhone 6 screen, and it fits inside a case.

The Zagg InvisibleShield Glass screen protectors for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are thin, at 0.4mm thick. This means they don’t add noticeable bulk or weight to the iPhones. The glass does not go all the way to the edge or wrap around the curve. This may sound like a drawback, but if you use a case this actually makes it possible to use the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass with almost any case on the market. I’ve used it with the iPhone 6 Plus leather case and with a large variety of exciting iPhone 6 cases.

After installing the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass I was worried that there would be some loss of touch control or that the screen protector would alter the smooth gliding that I was used to while controlling the iPhone 6 Plus, but there is no real change to the visibility or touch controls. The only change you’ll notice is when your finger slides off the edge of the protector to the edge of the iPhone, and that isn’t something you’ll experience with most cases on.

Protection

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus both offer resilient screens that prevent scratches, but there is still a chance that you will leave a mark with rings, keys and other daily dangers that your iPhone faces.

After looking at the small marks all on my iPhone 5s after a year of use I decided to put a Zagg InvisibleShield Glass on the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 that I use for reviews. I treat these phones well, but they are constantly in pockets and bags with other phones, keys and cables. So far there are no signs of scratches on the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus with a InvisibleShield Glass on them.

The Zagg InvisibleShield Glass screen protector took the damage instead of my iPhone 6 Plus.

Where the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass really earned our praise is by protecting the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 screens from breaking. Sometime in the last week my iPhone 6 Plus dropped on to an edge and luckily the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass took all the damage, preventing front glass panel of the iPhone 6 Plus from shattering. You can see the damage to the InvisibleShield Glass above, but the iPhone 6 Plus is just like new.

Earlier this year the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass saved the iPhone 6 used by a Gotta Be Mobile spouse. This iPhone survived a drop without any damage to the iPhone as well. Zagg will replace the InvisibleShield Glass screen protectors that are worn or damaged, so you don’t need to spend another $35 on a replacement.

You can buy the Zagg InvisibleShield Glass direct from Zagg and at many retailers for $34.95 in the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. There are also many Android options and iPad options.

Sorry, As far as I’m concerned, this is not a “worthy” product. I got an iPhone 6 in March and had an Invisibleshield installed at the Sprint store. It is already cracked – and it is just July. A product like this should last more than 4 months ??? My son also had one installed on his iPhone 6Plus at the same time – and it cracked even sooner than mine.

Also, the glass is not easy to clean. Oil from your skin sticks to the tempered glass and just gets smeared around the surface when you try to clean it off – even when using the little microfiber wipe that comes with the glass.

Now I am faced with removing this tempered glass and postage to return to the manufacturer for replacement.

No “stars” from me for this product…

I agree. Mine cracked after only a few weeks. I would probably not buy this again.

Is there anyone who knows how to clean this shield’s sticky side? I had to have my phone repaired and had to remove the shield.
When it was put back, I found it collected some dust and thus it got unevenly attached.
I tried to clean with water but didn’t work.

    I greatly appreciate your help.

I have to leave a comment to reply to the two above about them breaking. The InvisibleShield Glass is exactly that. It is a thin sheet of tempered polished glass and it breaks super easy like any piece of glass. This review should mention that there are 3 different InvisibleShields. The Original, the HDX, and the Glass (he reviewed the Glass). The difference between the 3 is this. The Original is the one that you can hit with a hammer and it wont break (or so they say). But its draw back is that it is not clear. It is only 93% clear, so it has a slight haze to it. The Glass is just the polished Tempered glass that is 100% clear and super smooth. It looks and feel exactly like the real screen. The HDX is the hybrid between the two. Its 99% clear, and it is shatter proof. I have the Glass and it is broken, and so I am going to return it and have them send me an HDX instead and see how that works.

Oh yeah I was going to mention something to Mari too about cleaning the sticky side. I dont think you can ever get it so clean and without debris and dust that it will seal onto the phone like it did originally. But it is warrantied for life, so order a replacement and crack the old one in half and send it back to them. You paid for a product that is 1 and done for the life of the phone, so you are entitled to replacements.
