Galaxy S5 & Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop Updates Gain Focus

Published

on

We’ve discovered a couple of new Samsung Galaxy Android 5.0 details including a pair of release windows for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop update and the still unreleased Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update. Both details help to paint a more vivid picture of what’s to come from Samsung and its collection of Android 5.0 upgrades.

Last month, Google started pushing out its Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system for the first time. The roll out started for Nexus users and slowly but surely, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update’s made it to devices from other manufacturers including Samsung, the world’s largest Android maker.

While Samsung chose to initially stay quiet about Android 5.0 Lollipop and its release, the company’s started to let details trickle out of its South Korean stronghold. We’ve seen Galaxy S4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update details emerge. We’ve seen Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update information surface. We’ve seen info arrive for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note Edge. And we’ve seen the Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update start to push out for select users.

We’re also starting to see carriers confirm vague release windows for their own Galaxy Android 5.0 Lollipop updates. French carrier SFR recently put out ETAs for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 and today, we’ve tracked down some new information for Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 users in Spain, information that we think helps fill in some of the gaps in the bigger picture.

iPhone 6 Plus vs Galaxy S5 Specs

Vodafone Spain, a carrier known for being very upfront with its customers, says that it’s currently planning to roll out the Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update in 2015. The carrier says that it “can not give a specific launch date, but it is quite certain that the upgrade to the latest version of the operating system Google will not happen until next year.” While this is for one specific variant, it sets the stage for other Galaxy S5 users as well.

With only a few days to go before the end of the year, it’s looking like most carriers will push the Galaxy S5 Lollipop update in 2015 rather than in the last two weeks of 2014.

The carrier also notes that it currently is looking at an early 2015 release for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update. This lines up with SFR’s January ETA and it also backs up Samsung’s earlier confirmations. The company recently said that the Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.0 update would land in early 2015 and that’s precisely what this carrier is telling its Galaxy Note 4 users. These aren’t very specific but they do help owners of both devices gain a little bit more release date focus.

Best of 2014 - Galaxy Note 4 review

Most carriers, including those based in the United States, remain silent about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and its features. We’ve seen the Sprint Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update leak out several times already but that update remains unconfirmed at this point. That said, we should start to see confirmations, and roll outs, emerge in the near future as Samsung prepares behind the scenes.

Samsung’s already confirmed Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and Samsung Galaxy S4. The company is also all but confirmed to have a Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update up its sleeve. All of these updates, minus the Galaxy Note Edge update, are confirmed for an early 2014 release.

Release dates for carrier-specific models will be dependent not only on Samsung’s internal testing but on carrier testing as well. Carriers like AT&T and Verizon will need to ensure that these updates meet their standards. If they do not, we could see delays for some of the more anticipated Samsung Galaxy Android 5.0 Lollipop releases.

The only reason why I purchased Galaxy series Smartphones as it comes with guarantee of being upgraded to the latest version of Android. The best feature I like the most in Galaxy Note 4 is its compatibility with adaptive fast charger.

That is a comparison picture of a Galaxy S5 and an iPhone 6+ in and article that talks about the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4 therefore this article loses its credibility lol.
