EA PC Games Sale Has Huge Discounts on Big Titles

In celebration of the New Year, video game developer Electronic Arts is discounting some of its games for Windows PCs and Macs by as much as half. Some of these titles even include flagships like FIFA 15 and Dragon Age Inquisition.

EA revealed the sale and started discounting PC game downloads on its Origin website earlier today. A banner on the side indicates that it’ll run the sale until Sunday, December 28th.

Among the most attractive deals in the EA PC games sale is Dragon Age Inquisition, a massive role-playing game that just arrived on the Xbox One and PS4 earlier this year. EA is marking that game down to $39.99 from $59.99 for the entire sale. FIFA 15, the soccer game, is also priced at $39.99. EA is also heavily discounting the deluxe PC versions of those games. These deluxe editions include add-on content that would normally cost extras. Dragon Age: Inquisition Deluxe Edition is $46.66, for example. That’s down from $69.99.

The Sims 4 is now priced at $29.99. Battlefield 4 is $14.99, Need for Speed: Rivals Complete Edition is  $24.99 There are dozens more titles, some of which only made their debut a year ago or less also discounted.

Where the EA PC Games sale really gets ridiculous is slightly older games. Battlefield 3, the first-person shooter that originally debuted on the PC back in 2011 is just $.99. Titanfall, a first-person shooter involving giant robots that arrived on the Xbox One this past March, is just $9.99. The insane savings aren’t even restricted to titles published by Electronic Arts. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 is just $4.99 and so is The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. A PC copy of Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year Edition is just $9.99. The purchase includes all of the game’s downloadable content and extra challenge rooms.

It’s worth noting that users who already have these games get a little savings too. In addition to marking down the games themselves, EA’s PC games ale also includes big discounts on extras themselves.

All told, EA’s PC games sale is pretty decent. It offers tons of savings on games users either haven’t purchased because they weren’t cheap enough, or had too much to play at the time. There aren’t really any catches either. EA does require that users sign op for an account with its Origin PC gaming service before taking advantage of these deals. Buyers will also need to download the Origin PC software to get access to the games they purchase. That’s hardly a catch though.

Origin is sort of a PC version of Xbox Live. There’s a cloud library of games that you’ve purchased so that you can download them to any PC you have access to. A store area inside Origin keeps users abreast of the latest deals and savings. Weaved into the app is an instant messenger service for communicating with friends.

The deals itself aren’t bad, but before deciding to take advantage of them it’s important to check their individual requirements. Some games, like Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, aren’t too demanding. This means that even some low-end PCs and Macs should run them just find. Many of the games included in the sale are on the opposite end of the spectrum though. For example, A Surface Pro 3 will run Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare or SimCity just fine. It could have a problem running something demanding like Titanfall or Dragon Age: Inquisition. Besides processor power, there are other tings to consider too. Each one of these games will eat into the amount of free storage you have on your machine. Definitely take that into consideration too.
