2015 Lenovo ThinkPad T, E & L Notebooks Announced

Lenovo has announced a bevy of new notebooks here at CES 2015. More specifically, the company has announced new additions to its Lenovo ThinkPad T, E and L series of laptops, most of which are meant for business use.

First off, the ThinkPad T450s is a 14-inch ultrabook that weighs in at just 3.5 pounds, which is about the same as the 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is definitely a lightweight notebook that many users are familiar with. It also comes with a 1080p touchscreen display, which is fairly impressive for a 14-inch screen.

The T450s sports Intel’s latest Broadwell fifth-generation Core processor and also comes with a bevy of ports, including mini-DisplayPort, VGA, USB, and an SD card reader. The notebook will be available later this month and will start at $1,099, which is a bit steep in price, but it’s a couple hundred dollars less than the entry-level MacBook Pro.

Finishing out the T series are the T450 and the T550, which are 14-inch and 15-inch laptops, respectively. They do way a bit more than the T450s, coming in at four pounds for the T450 and five pounds for the T550, but that’s actually 15% lighter than the laptops’ predecessors, according to Lenovo.

Both will come packing with Intel fifth-generation Core processors and 1080p displays, although the T550 can be upgraded to a gorgeous 3K display, and discrete graphics options are available as upgrades as well.

However, the T550 (video below)has a unique feature that allows you to get almost 24 hours of battery life, as the new laptop comes with two batteries, one of which is a removable battery that you can swap in for a larger one to get the 24-hour battery life.

The T450 and T550 will be available later this month and will start at $849 and $999, respectively.

As for the ThinkPad L series, Lenovo as unveiled the L450, which is a more robust option for business use, as it passes military-specification testing in multiple categories. It’s also one of the greenest laptops in the ThinkPad lineup with “numerous environmental certifications” to its name.

The L450 comes with improved battery life thanks the Intel’s fifth-generation Core processor, and buyers can upgrade to an optional IPS 1080p display if they so choose, which could be a good way to go, considering that the notebook starts at only $699, and it will become available at some point later this month.

Finally, the E450 and the E550 round out the series as one of Lenovo’s cheapest options, starting at only $599.

The E450 rocks a 14-inch 1080p display, while the E550 sports a 15-inch screen. Both laptops come with Intel fifth-Generation Core processor, as well as the option for 3D RealSense camera integration. Buyers can also upgrade to discrete AMD Radeon graphics for better firepower during gaming.

The 3D RealSense camera technology comes from Intel, and it allows users a glimpse into the future with facial recognition, emotion tracking, 3D scanning, and background extraction. It’s essentially the first camera technology that can sense depth and not just a 2D environment, opening up a world of possibilities.

The E series is definitely the option to go for if you’re on a budget, and it doesn’t seem like you’ll be too disappointed with the performance, especially for just $599.
