Parrot, a company known for many of its recent quadricopters and jumping drones controlled by mobile devices, arrived at CES 2015 this year with an all new infotainment system for cars that delivers three things: Android 5.0 Lollipop, Android Auto, and Apple’s CarPlay all in one.

This system, codenamed the RNB6, isn’t just a 7-inch in-dash media system for your car you’ll find at Best Buy like everything else these days, it’s an entire infotainment system capable of multiple different things to suit and any all users.

Earlier this year Google took the wraps off of Android Auto, and we’ve seen a bit of Apple’s CarPlay too, but no options manage to deliver them both. However, the new Parrot RNB6 does all of the above, yet also runs a custom version of Android 5.0 with built in navigation and much more for potential buyers.

What’s being shown here at CES is more than just a head unit for potential buyers, but an all-in-one system that can do many different things multiple needs at once. Without Android Auto or CarPlay it still has plenty to offer, but combine either of these in-car solutions from two top companies and the Parrot system will do it all.

As we mentioned above this 7-inch HD touchscreen head unit runs a customized version of Android 5.0 Lollipop with support for apps, Google Maps navigation, voice control, hands-free calling, music streaming, and more. In addition to all of that, you can plug in an Android smartphone to take advantage of Android Auto the way Google intended on that 7-inch screen.

Android Auto is still fairly new and improving as time goes on, and we’ve heard Android Auto will get a huge bit of attention in the upcoming Android M release. That said, it’s fully supported here with this newest head unit from Parrot, and will likely continue to see updates as it’s already running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

However, what’s making this head unit and in-dash infotainment system get so much attention isn’t just Android 5.0 or Android Auto, it’s the fact that it also supports Apple CarPlay. Meaning that no matter what device you’re using, or who is in the car, you’ll be able to get the most of the 7-inch screen built in.

Then being a standard double-din head unit we have all the usual outputs, dashcam video inputs, HDMI in and out, Ethernet, USB, and a dedicated iPhone/Android USB port around back for even more input options. In the end what makes this new Parrot system great is that not only does it support all the latest technology inside cars include steering-wheel controls, climate control, and more of those fancy features, but it’ll bring technology to your aging vehicle.

Meaning those not looking to buy a new connected car with smart features like Android Auto or Apple CarPlay anytime soon can still get everything those platforms have to offer. Essentially making any car, truck, or vehicle smart by buying this Parrot double-din head unit. No exact pricing or release date details were announced, but Parrot did claim we can expect this to hit the market sometime in 2015.
