SanDisk took the moment today here at CES 2015 live in Las Vegas to announce some new products, one of which is an impressive new storage solution for Android smartphone and tablet owners. Building on the success of the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 2.0 last year, a new Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 with both regular and micro-USB connectors has been revealed.

USB thumb drives with both regular and micro-USB connectors aren’t new, but the options are few and far between, and SanDisk has just delivered one more option for potential buyers.

The new SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 enables mobile users to transfer files faster than ever before, especially with more and more smartphones like the Galaxy Note 4 supporting USB 3.0, as well as free up space on their smartphones and tablets. Read on for more details, release date information, pricing and hands-on impressions.

With many smartphones still only coming in 16 or 32GB storage options, which isn’t enough for many users, an easy and simple solution for more storage is often required by users. Not all smartphones and tablets have micro-SD card slots either, like the Nexus 6 or Nexus 9, making this new flash drive a perfect solution.

The new SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive 3.0 is essentially a USB flash drive with a regular USB 3.0 connector on one side, and a micro-USB connector on the other for Android smartphones and tablets. Allowing users to easily and quickly transfer files, movies and more from their PC to smartphones and tablets with ease. As well as add addition storage to their Android devices while on the go. Perfect for travel to watch movies or TV shows.

Pricing starts at $22.99 for the 16GB version and reaches $64.99 for the 64GB model. These prices are a large increase over last years model, but delivers an improved design and faster transfer speeds with the introduction of USB 3.0 this time around.

Many Android devices don’t have USB on-the-go (OTG) support, which is what’s required for users to simply plug in the Ultra Dual 3.0 thumb drive for easy access of their files and folders, but thankfully SanDisk offers a Memory Zone app from the Google Play Store. This is needed as many file manager apps don’t support OTG either. That being said, many devices made from Samsung all support this out of the box, and no third party app is required.

Everything from photos, video, files, documents and more can all easily be stored and transferred to your smartphone or tablet of choice using the new Ultra Dual USB 3.0 thumb drive, and the accompanying Android app. Our quick few minutes with the thumb drive were pleasant enough. It’s a neat little accessory that has one job, and does it well. All for a decent price coming in at $22.99 for 16GB, and up to $64.99 for the bigger 64GB variant. The new SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive 3.0 should be available worldwide starting today, January 5th.
