Fugoo XL Bluetooth Speaker Offers Bigger Bass

Published

on

Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen these days, but we don’t see many that are rugged and meant for the ultimate outdoorsman. Fugoo thinks it has a solution with its line of Bluetooth speakers that are waterproof, shockproof, dustproof and pretty much any other protection that you need.

On top of the smaller Bluetooth speaker that has been in the company’s lineup for the last year, Fugoo has announced the Fugoo XL at CES this week, essentially taking the smaller version and making it a lot larger, adding more tweeters and heavier bass for louder audio.

The speaker consists of an inner core that’s the barebones speaker itself, then users can get different shells for it that range in different colors and protection levels, which Fugoo calls “jackets.” For instance, you can get a jacket that aims for style and then put on a different jacket that aims for ruggedness.

There are three different styles that you can go for, named the Fugoo Style XL, Sport XL, and Tough XL. The Style jacket offers an elegant look to the Bluetooth speaker (pictured above), the Sport jacket offers good looks mixed with a bit of ruggedness, and the Tough jacket is about as good as it gets, with the company saying that it makes the speaker virtually indestructible (pictured below).

The speaker core consists of 360-degree sound made up of various tweeters, mid/subwoofers, passive radiators and active drivers that are all spread out on all four sides of the box. All of this mixed together brings quite the noise that we weren’t expecting when we took a listen for ourselves. Good low-end bass is always hard to accomplish with Bluetooth speakers, but Fugoo made it happen.

The Fugoo XL can also come with a carrying strap, since the larger size makes the whole package a lot heavier than the regular-sized version, but the straps are incredibly comfortable.

As for prices and availability, the Style XL and Sport XL speakers will be priced at $299, while the Tough XL will cost $329. All three models will be available starting in April.

Google can’t seem to fix a lot of problems. Nexus 7 with 5.1 still freezes constantly and launches very slowly. Why doen’st google just give me credit to buy an upgrade like Nexus 9?
