The Samsung Portable SSD T1 is a fast and portable SSD that is about the size of a business card and is capable of packing up to 1TB of storage into this small and incredibly light package.
Samsung delivers 250GB, 500GB and 1TB storage options in this sleek and attractive looking package. The Samsung Portable SSD T1 looks more like a fashion accessory than a portable hard drive, with a textured finish and size similar to a small make up case.
After picking up the Samsung T1, I was impressed by just how small and light it is. In the photo above, you can see it next to a credit card for comparison. The device measures 71.0 x 9.2 x 53.2 mm and weighs up to 30 grams. It is something you can easily toss in a bag, purse or pocket without worrying about adding significant weight to your travels.
The drive is compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, with a max transfer speed of up to 450MB per second. The drive features AES 256-bit encryption and an optional password setting to keep your information secure. The T1 features new V-NAND technology to deliver improved performance and reliability over traditional NAND products. There is a three-year limited warranty on this device.
Because this is a SSD, you don’t need to worry nearly as much about the shock and vibration that could damage a traditional hard drive. There are no moving parts inside allowing for 4x more shock and 40x more vibration as well as high temperatures without breaking down.
The Samsung Portable SSD T1 release arrives in mid-January starting at $180 for the 250GB version, $300 for the 500GB model and $600 for the 1TB portable SSD.
