Nexus 6 Release Continues with More Stock Available

Published

on

The Motorola-made Google Nexus 6 smartphone is finally becoming more readily available to buyers in the United States, but finding one in stock is still not an easy task. An actual Nexus 6 release date was never formally announced, as Google allowed each of the major carriers to release the new flagship smartphone at their own pace.

The impressive Nexus 6 was announced back on October 15th along with the Nexus 9 tablet, a Nexus Player, and the completely redesigned and improved Android 5.0 Lollipop software update. The release has been slow from carriers, and this week US Cellular joined three other carriers, and now Motorola.com has the Blue model in both 32 or 64GB in stock again.

Those looking to get a Nexus 6 have probably experienced a few problems trying to find the always out of stock and hard to find smartphone. It’s available now from AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and this week also from US Cellular, making Verizon the only carrier without a release date. More stock arrived today at Motorola’s store, as well as from T-Mobile.

If you’re looking to get the 64GB Nexus 6, which is the hardest model to find, it has been in and out of stock since last night on Motorola.com. It’s saying out of stock right now, but a quick refresh I saw it in stock momentarily. Either they’re adding more slowly, or you just need to catch it while it’s being shown in stock to submit an order.

That being said, another option is through the only carrier in the United States offering the 64GB Nexus 6. That being T-Mobile. Navigating to T-Mobile.com you’ll notice they have the 64GB Blue Nexus 6 in stock, and shipping right away. A few tips sent our way suggests the orders take about 5-7 days to arrive, but T-Mobile has the 64GB version available and it’s off contract. They’re also offering a $48 discount using the coupon code “NEXUS6DEAL” at checkout.

As a reminder T-Mobile no longer has contract for those interested. Meaning you can buy the phone easily from them outright, or do a payment plan making monthly payments if shelling out over $600 isn’t something you’re able to do today. That said, the 64GB version is never in stock long, so get it while it’s available.

For those curious, the Google Play Store is still completely out of stock of the Nexus 6 in both colors and both storage configurations. Meaning you’ll need to buy from Motorola, T-Mobile, or other carriers if they have it in stock.

So what about Verizon Wireless? Four of the five major US carriers are offering the Nexus 6 as we speak, with Verizon being the only one holding out. Initial rumors suggested a late December Verizon Nexus 6 release date, but that never happened. We’re now halfway through January and the only news is a rumor of a February release date.

Overall the Nexus 6 release hasn’t been very smooth, but it follows a long line of Nexus smartphone releases that haven’t been the easiest devices to find or the smoothest of releases. For now these are two of the only options available, and we’ll update as more units become available from other carriers, the Google Play Store, or from Verizon.
