Why You Shouldn’t Buy the iPhone 6 Right Now

Apple’s iPhone 6 is one of the best smartphones on the market but it’s a difficult device to recommend right now. Those that can wait a few weeks to buy should wait a few weeks to buy. Here’s why you shouldn’t buy the iPhone 6 right now.

In September, Apple took the stage and announced two new iPhone 6 models. A 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and a larger 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. Both devices arrived with an assortment of upgrades including larger displays, better processors, improved cameras, sleek metal designs, Apple’s new iOS 8 operating system, and more.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus immediately shot up the charts as two of the best smartphones available and there they will remain until Apple announces a brand new iPhone 6s.

We’ve been pushing the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 as an option to many users in the weeks since that day in September but the current climate makes the iPhone 6 hard to recommend. Right now is a terrible time to buy the iPhone 6.

If you’re in the hunt for a new smartphone right now or if you will be sometime in the next couple of weeks, here’s why you shouldn’t buy the iPhone 6 right now.

Galaxy S6 Release

Every year Samsung, like Apple, releases a new flagship smartphone. And every year, that device serves as one of the iPhone’s top competitors. This year should be no different.

We still don’t have all of the details regarding the Samsung Galaxy S6 but that doesn’t matter at this point. We know that the Samsung Galaxy S6 launch is just about two weeks away and the Galaxy S6 rumor cycle has matured to the point that many important details are all but confirmed ahead of its announcement in Barcelona, Spain.

Samsung’s scheduled an event for Mobile World Congress 2015 on March 1st and it’s clear that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be the star of the show. If you’re in the hunt for a new device, you’d be smart to wait for that event before buying your next smartphone. That’s nothing in the smartphone world where device’s are on yearly cycles.

If you can wait two weeks for Samsung to take the stage, wait two weeks for Samsung to take the stage. The Galaxy S6 will almost certainly become a top iPhone 6 rival. Even if you don’t fall in love with the Samsung Galaxy S6, the iPhone 6 will still be there waiting once you come to your final decision. The Galaxy S6 is a phone that’s worth waiting for. Especially now that we’re this close.

Samsung Galaxy S6 rumors have popped up numerous times over the past month and all signs point to a serious step up from the Samsung Galaxy S5. There are obviously a number of components to a smartphone but we’ll rundown all of the major ones here.

This year, we think there’s a big chance for regret if you do not wait for the Samsung Galaxy S6 launch. Samsung’s clearly looking to make a splash with this phone.

In our eyes, this phone is a response to all of the criticism that Samsung’s gotten over the years about plastic designs and convoluted software. There will also be the usual array of high-powered hardware on board, you can count on that. Samsung’s Galaxy S series is a spec showcase and that’s exactly what we expect from the new Galaxy S.

We think there’s a big chance for regret if you don’t wait for the Galaxy S6 to arrive. The device could be Samsung’s biggest release since the Galaxy S3 back in 2012. We think that’s enough incentive to wait two weeks, just to see what Samsung has up its sleeve.

HTC One M9

If the imminent Galaxy S6 launch and the rumored iPhone-like Galaxy S6 specs aren’t enough, consider the fact that HTC will be announcing its new HTC One M9 flagship on March 1st as well. It’s supposedly going to come in two sizes in the United States with one variant expected to be a big screen competitor for the iPhone 6 Plus.

From what we’ve seen, HTC’s new One M9 is looking like another solid competitor for the iPhone 6, just like last year’s HTC One M8. Like the Galaxy S6, it’s expected to come with a number of improvements over its predecessor. With these two launches are happening on the same day and it’s not like you have to wait long for HTC and Samsung to detail all of these improvements.

Unless you absolutely have to buy a new phone in the next two weeks, we suggest waiting for March 1st to arrive before deciding on your next smartphone. The iPhone 6 will still be a great phone at the beginning of March but it will have increased competition from two devices that should be two of the best smartphones from 2015. That kind of choice should be appealing to all smartphone shoppers, not just those looking into buying the iPhone 6. So please, if you can, wait.
