In the fall, Apple replaced the iPad mini 2 with the iPad mini 3. The iPad mini 3 comes with Touch ID and a gold color option for an extra $100. Touch ID is extremely convenient though it comes at a cost of an extra $100. That's why we've kept the iPad mini 2 on this list.

For $100 less, you can pick up the iPad mini 2 which does not come with Touch ID but comes with everything else. That means a A7 64-bit processor, upgraded camera, and Apple's iOS 8 software, 4G LTE, and a sleek 7.9-inch Retina Display that makes it easy to carry on-the-go.

It's an expensive investment but it's a sound one because the iPad mini is one of the best tablets that money can buy. We recommend going hands-on with Touch ID before deciding. The iPad mini 2 is probably going to be just fine for many people so you definitely don't want to waste your money.
