Samsung Galaxy S6 Price: When to Expect Deals

The Samsung Galaxy S6 price is rumored to be expensive which means that some buyers will be on the look out for Galaxy S6 deals. A new timeline claims to show when prospective buyers can expect the biggest Galaxy S6 price cuts to arrive.

As we inch closer and closer toward Sunday’s Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress, we continue to see Samsung Galaxy S6 rumors and predictions emerge. Rumors have started to shift away from the device’s specs to some of the device’s other important details including the Galaxy S6 release date and Galaxy S6 price.

Yesterday, a massive Samsung Galaxy S6 price outline claimed to show off the device’s six different price points in Europe. The prices, which line up with early Galaxy S6 price rumors, indicate that the Galaxy S6 could be very expensive in Europe.

European prices typically don’t translate to the U.S. but there is certainly a chance that one or both rumored Galaxy S6 models will command a steep price tag on U.S. carriers. And if the Samsung Galaxy S6 price is expensive, Galaxy S6 deals will become that much more important. Today, a new report outlines what buyers can expect from Galaxy S6 deals down the road.

Idealo, a price comparison service located in the United Kingdom, has put together a timeline of Galaxy S price cuts. The company’s chart outlines when we saw the biggest price drops occur for the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5. Also included is the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung’s rumored successor for the Galaxy S5.

The company’s analyzed its previous data and come up with a look at what to expect from the Galaxy S6 price in the days, weeks, and months after its release late this year. If the company’s data analysis is accurate, we could be looking at a 90% price cut at the one month mark (May if Galaxy S6 rumors are correct) and a 70% price drop five to six months after its release. In total, Idealo predicts a 28% Galaxy S6 price cut over the first six months of its lifespan.

Android smartphone deals typically emerge shortly after launch though in the U.S., most of the deals come from retailers like Amazon and not from U.S. carriers themselves. U.S. carriers typically keep pricing for popular flagship Android smartphones stable while sprinkling in trade-in offers and the occasional deal throughout the year.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Release Best Buy -5

The Samsung Galaxy S6 price remains unconfirmed but we’re starting to see new details emerge in the days ahead of the Galaxy S6 launch date on March 1st in Barcelona, Spain. Galaxy S6 rumors point to six different Galaxy S6 models including a regular variant and a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge variant that features a curved display.

  • Samsung Galaxy S6 32 GB: 749 euros ($849 USD)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 64GB: 849 euros ($963 USD)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 128 GB: 949 euros ($1,706 USD)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 32 GB: 849 euros ($973 USD)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 64 GB : 949 euros ($1073 USD)
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 128 GB : 1049 euros ($1173 USD)

Very rarely do we see international pricing match up perfectly with pricing inside the United States. Samsung’s Galaxy S5, off-contract, started in and around $650. On-contract, the Galaxy S5 was priced at $199.99, same as the iPhone 6. If these Galaxy S6 prices hold up, the Galaxy S6 will become one of the most expensive smartphones on the market. In Europe, and perhaps, in the United States as well.

Samsung’s expected to reveal the Galaxy S6 price and more on March 1st. The Galaxy S6 specs are expected to include a number of upgrades including a Quad HD display, speedy processor, upgraded camera module, new software, and more. The Samsung Galaxy S6 release date is expected to land in March or April though a specific date has yet to be singled out.
