A new report reveals what consumers should expect from the Unpacked Samsung Galaxy S6 launch date on Sunday.

In the buildup to Samsung’s Unpacked event at Mobile World Congress 2015, we’ve heard a ton about Samsung’s plans for its Next Big Thing. Galaxy S6 specs, Galaxy S6 design details, the Galaxy S6 price, and the Galaxy S6 release date have started to firm up ahead of Samsung’s announcement. Now, with just hours to go before Samsung’s announcement, we’re starting to see details about the Galaxy S6 launch date itself emerge.

A new report from The Korea Economic Daily suggests that Sunday’s Unpacked event will focus on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 alone. In years past, other products have shared the stage with the Samsung Galaxy S and rumors leading up to MWC pointed to the arrival of a new Apple Watch competitor. It appears that the Galaxy S6 might share the spotlight alone.

The publication suggests that the focus on the Galaxy S6 is a product of the company’s current status. Samsung’s Mobile division has been in turmoil and the company is clearly hoping that the arrival of the Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge, will reverse its fortunes and bring the company back to prominence on the same pedestal as Apple and the iPhone 6. Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus played a big role in the company’s record first quarter.

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 is expected to feature a number of big time upgrades that the company hopes will resonate with consumers and we’ve seen many of those features leak out in the past two months as the company works behind the scenes to deliver its Next Big Thing.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is expected to feature a premium design that features metal and glass. This new design language would be a departure from the company’s plastic Galaxy S smartphone designs and it would put the phone more in line with the metal iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and help it compete against Android front-runners like the HTC One and LG G series.

Samsung’s new smartphone is also expected to feature a new 16MP camera module with a 5MP front-facing camera up front for wide angle photos. It’s expected to come with the company’s brand new Exynos 7 Octa processor. It’s also rumored to feature Android 5.0 Lollipop with a brand new version of TouchWiz UI over the top. The company’s rumored to have pulled most Samsung apps from the phone and toned down the UI to improve performance.

On March 1st, Samsung’s also expected to detail the Galaxy S6 release date. Galaxy S6 release date details have begun to emerge in the days leading up to the launch and we’ve started to see the date narrow for buyers in the United States.

AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have all confirmed the Galaxy S6 release and thanks to another leaked teaser, we know that the release date should come shortly after Samsung’s announcement on Sunday. An exact release date still isn’t confirmed though a report suggests that India, at the very least, will get the device in the second week of April.

In the U.S., Verizon and U.S .Cellular are also rumored to have the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on tap for later this year though neither of them have released teasers for the two devices. And while release dates remain out of reach, that hasn’t stopped accessory makers and retailers like Best Buy from teasing the Galaxy S6 release well ahead of time.

Best Buy’s already begun putting placeholders into its Samsung Mobile experience stores days ahead of Samsung’s announcement. All signs point to a huge focus on this year’s Galaxy S smartphone and we should see the Unpacked Samsung Galaxy S6 launch date kick things off.
