Samsung Galaxy S6 Pre-Orders Confirm Price

Published

While the Samsung Galaxy S6 release date remains up in the air that hasn’t stopped the company from putting up early Galaxy S6 pre-orders weeks ahead of the confirmed Galaxy S6 release.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are both official and the two flagships are confirmed for an April 10th arrival in 20 unnamed countries. The two devices, which will compete against the likes of the iPhone 6 and HTC One M9, are still weeks away from their anticipated arrivals but we’re already seeing early orders pop up for those that want to order them well in advance.

U.S. carriers haven’t put the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 up for pre-order just yet but Galaxy S6 pre-orders are now live for consumers in Europe. Samsung Netherlands is now offering early Galaxy S6 pre-orders for the regular model and the Galaxy S6 Edge. The website confirms that both devices will start shipping in time for the April 10th release date, a sign that the Netherlands will be among the first regions to carry the two flagships.

Samsung Netherlands’ pre-order also confirms the Galaxy S6 price for both models with the Galaxy S6 commanding a €700 price tag and the Galaxy S6 Edge checking in with a price tag of €850. Those are the prices for the based 32GB models. The company isn’t offering pre-orders on the 64GB or 128GB models just yet.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 does not come with a microSD card slot which puts greater importance on the higher-end models. The 64GB and 128GB variants are expected to command higher prices. Galaxy S6 price details put the device at €799 for the 64GB version, and €899 for the 128GB model in Europe. If the Galaxy S6 Edge pricing holds, we could see the larger storage sizes arrive at €949 and €1049 respectively.

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 price still isn’t confirmed for the United States though T-Mobile notes that the Approximate Retail Value of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is $699. The carrier does not list the ARV for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge because it isn’t one of the prizes. This ARV could serve as the off-contract price of the Samsung Galaxy S6 in the United States though that remains to be seen.

April 10th will serve as the initial Galaxy S6 release date though it’s not expected to cover all Galaxy S6 markets. The U.S. Galaxy S6 release date remains a mystery though we now know that at least three devices are inching closer to release.

Today, the Verizon Galaxy S6, Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge and T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge cleared the FCC, a huge step towards their upcoming release dates. The U.S. traditionally is among the first markets to get big name Galaxy smartphones and the arrival of these filings hints at a release that’s on the fast track, perhaps for April 10th.

U.S. Cellular, the nation’s fifth largest carrier, says that it will start stocking the two devices in April though it declined to offer a specific release date. U.S. release dates typically cluster around one another which means that devices from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon shouldn’t be too far behind, if they’re behind at all.

Carriers in the United States still haven’t confirmed Galaxy S6 pre-orders though with a month to go before the start of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge release, there’s still a lot of time left for early orders.

The new Galaxy S6 comes with an assortment of upgrades including a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 577 ppi, Exynos 7 octo-core processor from Samsung, 32/64/128GB of storage with no microSD card slot, Android 5.0 Lollipop with a new version of Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, a 16MP camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, Cat.6 LTE, and a 2550 mAh (Galaxy S6) and 2600 mAh battery (S6 Edge).

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge will come with similar specifications though its will feature a unique curved display that bends down over the two sides of the phone. Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Edge eschew plastic in favor of a bold new design that features a combination of metal and glass that also features Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4.

The Galaxy S6 Edge is confirmed for all five major U.S. carriers but it’s not expected to arrive for smaller pre-paid and regional carriers. The regular model is confirmed for several smaller U.S. carriers including MetroPCS and Boost Mobile.
