New Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge release details have emerged today ahead of their unannounced release date. Verizon still isn’t talking about price, colors, storage, or the release dates but it has now confirmed a Galaxy S6 pre-order date for those that wish to buy the devices before they come out.

Earlier this week, shortly after Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on stage, Verizon and several other U.S. carriers confirmed Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge releases. And while Samsung confirmed an April 10th starting point for their arrival, U.S. carriers were silent about all of the important release details including the release date.

The US Galaxy S6 release date remains a mystery though we know that we’re inching closer to its arrival. AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 models have all cleared important hurdles at the FCC and at Bluetooth ahead of their release. It was only a matter of time before we saw new details emerge and today, we finally got a big one.

Galaxy-S6-Verizon

New Verizon Galaxy S6 release details have been confirmed and the carrier now says that it will be taking pre-orders on April 1st. The carrier confirmed the Galaxy S6 pre-order date but it left out the other pertinent details including price, colors, storage, and yes, the Verizon Galaxy S6 release date and Galaxy S6 Edge release date. Those dominos should fall ahead of their release but with weeks to go, it could be awhile before we found out all of these important Verizon Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 details.

Verizon becomes the first carrier to confirm a firm April 1st pre-order date, a date that falls just over a week ahead of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge release date on April 10th. The pre-order date puts Verizon on track for a release sometime in April though not necessary on April 10th. Verizon’s been known to release phones later than its rivals.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular are also getting closer to their respective release dates though the carriers haven’t released any specific details yet. With Verizon now open about its pre-orders, it should only be a matter of time before we see these remaining carriers confirm their own release details.

Colors and storage remain a mystery in the United States though the Galaxy S6 price has been narrowed down. A T-Mobile ARV that we discovered shortly after launch hints at a $699 price tag for the Galaxy S6. It doesn’t necessarily confirm the off-contract price but it does mean that carrier pricing should fall somewhere between $600 and $700. On-contract prices remain missing in action.

The new Galaxy S6 comes with an assortment of upgrades including a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 577 ppi, Exynos 7 octo-core processor from Samsung, 32/64/128GB of storage with no microSD card slot, Android 5.0 Lollipop with a new version of Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, a 16MP camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, Cat.6 LTE, and a 2550 mAh (Galaxy S6) and 2600 mAh battery (S6 Edge).

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge will come with similar specifications though its will feature a unique curved display that bends down over the two sides of the phone. Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Edge eschew plastic in favor of a bold new design that features a combination of metal and glass that also features Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4.

The Galaxy S6 Edge will only be available on the five largest carriers in the US.
