11 iPhone 6s Features We Want in 2015

Published

on

There is a new iPhone on the way in 2015 that may be the iPhone 6s or the iPhone 7. Whatever Apple calls the new iPhone for 2015, there are a collection of upgrades we want to see from the iPhone 6. Odds are good that Apple will call this the iPhone 6s, and with that in mind we have a list of essential iPhone 6s features we want this year.

In early 2015 the iPhone 6s rumors are still slim, but we know that Apple prefers to stick with a tick-tock release cycle that delivers a big update and then a small update that refines on the design and features to deliver an iPhone that looks similar but delivers new features.

The iPhone 6 is the tick in this example, a major upgrade with a new design, bigger screen and NFC to support Apple Pay. The new iPhone, likely the iPhone 6s, is a tock release. The smaller upgrade traditionally uses a similar design with a focus on features and software to differentiate the new iPhone from the older model.

The latest iPhone 6s rumors are still slim, with a very small focus on the iPhone 6s features, but as we march towards an iPhone 6s release date this fall there are a number of iPhone 6s features we want Apple to deliver in 2015.

With the iPhone 6s release we expect Apple will deliver both new iPhone sizes, marking a third year of introducing two new iPhones at once. The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus features listed here are things we want after using the last several generations of iPhones, the top competition like the LG G3, Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, Moto X and Galaxy Note 4.

Odds are good that Apple will not deliver all of these new iPhone 6s features, but we hope that at least some of these updates will arrive on the new iPhones in 2015.

Wireless Charging

Wireless Charging

It would be amazing to finally get wireless charging in the iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus so that charging would no longer require a Lightning cable. There are adapters and cases to add wireless charging to the iPhone, but the real benefit comes from integrated wireless charging.

Yes, there is still a need for a cable connected to power, but you would no longer need to plug the iPhone in, just set it on a charging mat on your nightstand, on a coffee table at Starbucks or in a wireless charging dock in your car that can deliver power without the need to fumble with a cable.

The wireless charging iPhone 6s feature is all about the convenience of using the iPhone without a cable tethered to it -- and charging remains the only reason you absolutely need a cable with the iPhone.
